Ok , dumb question here ..... Could the tech giants of the era NOT figure out how to make a decent DvD after all was said and done regarding laserdisc production and early generation compact music disc manufacturing ? Not to mention R & D regarding the new kid on the block at the time DvD ? Was the science that unpredictable or was it simply a lack of quality oversight and/or cheap material production ? Was Rot more widespread in HD DvD production then LaserDisc ? |

From what I've read here, HDDVD out-rots anything but possibly CDV. I can't imagine why so many people here collect it. It's like trying to collect snowflakes or francium-223 atoms. |

There are over 1800 listings for hddvds of which 301 are Warner Brothers, which seems to have the highest number of rotters, so for me it's worth the risk if I can get them cheap enough, and they do make neat coasters. I remember the panic in the early 2000s when there was a fear that all the laserdiscs were going to rot. It was a good buying opportunity. |
