I have several titles high on the "Avoid" list, including a pristine set of the Star Wars Trilogy: Definitive Collection (0693-84 ) that have no laser rot. I've even seen a clean copy of Eraser (still a horrible, horrible movie).

Is there a way to put a 0 (zed, zero) in the Laser Rot entry? Especially if a title is a notorious rotter, I think it's meritorious to note the exceptions, especially if they can be linked to specific pressing runs.

:geek:

My copy of the definitive box is also in perfect shape, as well as all of my DADC pressed discs that are high on the rot list. While I know Sony's American pressed discs are awful, I personally have never had one go bad.

If you set the little meter to "0", it removes your rot report for that title. But if you look at the 'rot report' page, you will see that it gives the number reported as rotten as a fraction of the number in collections.

I also think this should be more clear. There are titles on lddb which have only one or two rot reports but are in 20 or 40 collections. So, have the others not watched it yet? Are they to lazy to make a report or have they simply forgot? If there would be a rot level of "none" and you could see: "Ok, 10 people have no rot at all and one has light rot" - so buying the disc shouldn't be a big risk.

I too think that zero-rot report would be a highly desirable feature.

Someone actively reporting a clean disc is not the same thing as someone not filing a report - it's a positive statement that that person has checked it and found it good.

I'll see if I can keep the 0-rot as information (shouldn't be too hard) and use -1 as a "please remove" or something like that :-)

That would be great.

One can also remove a rot report by using the little dustbin symbol when hovering over one's own report, I notice.

reporting 0 rot would also mean that people who have the disc actually watch it and don't just put it in the shelf after it comes in the mail

also could there be a 1/2 to start, then 1-10. i have some discs that are really light that it's almost like issues from the print, but i can clearly see it's speckles.

Tonight I watched my copy of Aliens: Special Edition (1986) (Uncut) [1504-85], which I hadn't viewed in at least 15 years, and I learned a few things.

One thing I learned is that this movie wouldn't have been worth jack without Sigourney Weaver. Once the marines die off (and take their endless supply of stupid one-liners with them) everything gets 100x better.

Secondly, my copy has zero rot on any of the discs despite this supposedly being a famous rotter. Its a Mitsubishi pressing, according to the database.

Off topic: this is an interesting transfer. It hasn't been "cooked" at all. There are even quite a few film defects and a great deal of grain. If your display is calibrated properly though it is extremely smooth. I wish more stuff was handled with this much restraint, especially BRs.

i was just looking at the page for this box set.

if you look it's listed as "high probability" for rot.
you can clearly see that there are 273 copies in
collections and only 8 list problems.
so that's a little more than 2% of people who own this that have issues.
that dosn't sound like a "high probability" to me?

My copy of striptease appears to have 0 rot until you fast forward it. Then the whole thing is full. Very weird.

i think that's the filters on your player?? or better laser?
i have some when you do still you see a multi colored spot but when it's playing it's fine.
also i remember when i had this pioneer PR-7820 it gave a great picture due to the large
gas laser.
http://www.laserdiscarchive.co.uk/laser ... odel_3.htm

couldn't keep it due to size, took up half of my closet at the time, and i never had it really hooked up.
but that was a beast, cool but a beast.
with case it was around 70 lbs

After doing a video on the Vestron Video release of "I Spit on Your Grave" I had someone tell me that they had a copy but had never watched it. I suggested that he do so, as my disc (made by Sonopress) is the worst looking and sounding LD I have ever run across. He tried his and reported the same experience. I reported it by the way.

STAY AWESOME! :)
