Been contacting them but they send back erroneous robot answers.

If you are using a @verizon.net emaill address here, I can't send you notifications any longer.

You could eventually call your Verizon desk and ask that lddb.com (195.154.194.96) be white-listed.

Great... now MSN/HOTMAIL/OUTLOOK/LIVE are also rejecting my emails!

Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 550 SC-001 (BAY004-MC3F49) Unfortunately, messages from
    195.154.194.96 weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider
    since part of their network is on our block list. You can also refer your
    provider to http://mail.live.com/mail/troubleshooting.aspx#errors.

Good news, Verizon listened and the situation should improve soon:

Quote:
Your upstream provider has been blocked due to massive volumes of spam attacks originating from their network.

This block has unfortunately affected your IP address as well.

I recommend contacting your upstream provider regarding the volume of spam attacks originating from their IP space.

The public sending reputation of the specific IP address in question is acceptable. I have therefore exempted that IP from the large block.

Normal email delivery should resume within the next 72 hours.

Sincerely,
Verizon Online Anti-Spam

And it's back again :-(

Quote:
After investigation, Verizon Online Security has determined that e-mail from your IP address will not be allowed access to the Verizon Online e-mail domain due to one or more of the following reasons:

Your IP has been blocked because of spam issues or because your ISP indicates that it is dynamically assigned

1/ I don't send spam, it's called opted-in notifications or transactions report.
2/ My IP is static.

The problem is that the SPAM filter at Verizon is a robot, very few humans to fix mistakes.

Thanks to tanjun, Verizon blacklisting was removed.

Victory!

Well, one victory down, a few more to go. Since Verizon was blocking us, other smaller ISPs re-used Verizon list of blocked IPs to populate their own blacklist.

Currently I cannot deliverer emails to:

  • @cableone.net
  • @earthlink.net
  • @tesco.net

Only their customers/someone in the USA can contact them about undelivered messages... I'm neither :(

It seems that my ISP's DNS were the one in a faulty state, preventing me from sending emails to some ISPs.

DNS updated with Google ones (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4) and everything is good again.

One more ISP is permanently blocking me:

4DE382D82001    1325 Tue Aug 30 03:16:18  www-data@lddb.com
(host mx.centurylink.net[205.219.233.5] refused to talk to me: 550 5.7.1 [C10] RBL restriction: Blacklisted by Internal Reputation Service - 195.154.194.96)

I tried emailing for help, online chat support, called their support number, emailed abuse@ postmaster@ etc.
Nothing works.

They don't seem to care.

Found another website with the very same problem :-(

So much time & work put in with so many different things to keep the site running - thanks so much for everything you do here.

Very best regards.

I ended up putting up a warning on the Registration page:

Please do not use an email address from @centurytel.net, they have been permanently blocking my server and are not helping solving the issue. Avoid them.

Trying to improve my email server reputation I tweaked some options to appear even more "legit" from other mail servers. Namely added/improved:

  • SPF (Sender Policy Framework)
    This is announcing (via DNS) that this IP is allowed to deliver emails from @lddb.com sources, and no other server in the world ("v=spf1 a -all").
  • TumGreySPF
    This will "greylist" incoming email (basically asking them to retry after 5 minutes) then let them deliver normally.
    It blocks spammers who only try once and give up, moving to the next target.
  • DKIM
    All outgoing email will be signed with RSA algorithm to authenticate that the email contents were not modified.
    If you are using GMail (for example) and look at the source/original message, it will look like:
    Received-SPF: pass (google.com: domain of ***@lddb.com designates 195.154.194.96 as permitted sender) client-ip=195.154.194.96;
    Authentication-Results: mx.google.com;
           dkim=pass header.i=@lddb.com;
           spf=pass (google.com: domain of ***@lddb.com designates 195.154.194.96 as permitted sender) smtp.mailfrom=***@lddb.com
    DKIM-Signature: v=1; a=rsa-sha256; c=simple/simple; d=lddb.com; s=lddb.com;
       t=1473235247; bh=N2Mv8dO3rOaAJVIury08yAPykwdPtpbFbxKjWTvSF+w=;
       h=To:Subject:Date:From:From;
       b=WS7cn8TdQjeoifS53QBivimqmUxQu8Wr71w6CmVIzdtuN/aY/Mf0Xz7JctMOvucqQ
        kDm0+0MzbGQEADt20iA+48Ozoq+Qq6QALe3jkBOhYOKN7vfaLKiKObytX+QmwlolZC
        V9saPArq2L1mkgD2u5kbnJJLdjX5fjyIGm3sUoIQ=

Next one to consider will be DMARC.

Someone at CenturyLink might have eventually received a copy of my email, messages are being delivered to centurytel.net again!

Flushing my queue of 28 messages slowly.

And... Centurylink is blocking me again and this time the customer service is not even responding anymore.

If you have an address in:

  • @q.com
  • @centurylink.net
  • @erols.com

... I can't email you anymore :-(

Current list of ISPs blocking my emails...

  • @q.com
  • @centurytel.net
  • @erols.com
  • @cableone.net

Error messages:

  • 550 5.7.1 [C10] RBL restriction: Blacklisted by Internal Reputation Service
  • 550 5.7.1 [C15] RBL restriction: Blacklisted by Internal Reputation Service

If you're using one of them, you have to call your ISP and ask them to whitelist 195.154.194.96 62.210.77.23.
