Back in the day I had to see Giant Robo in four different formats to see it all. Originally the USMC LD of EP1, then fansubs to get caught up, then Manga VHS since they quit LD, then streaming off Manga’s website for the finale. It had extremely rocky distribution, which had a lot to do with the show taking forEVER to come out in Japan.
The OG LDs are still the realest release but the video quality ain’t great. The Gigabox had video quality issues. The US DVD... I can’t remember, even though I have it.
A BR would be great if they have the negative. If not I’ll stick with the LDs.
I think there is a Megazone BR in Japan, isn’t there?
There is a Giant Robo BD in Japan for sure, but I generally don't buy Japanese BDs. I like Giant Robo and the captures I have seen of the BD are fantastic. But...$250 and no English subs is a bit much for me.

Btw, have you seen The Heroic Trio? It’s WAY dumber and IMO way better. I didn’t care for the sequel.
Instead of French Raiden and the Schcoght you have three beautiful women who save babies from the most conservative Chinese person in history. They fight with swords but also chains, darts, motorcycles, whatever. They couldn’t afford Queen so they got a dozen smoke machines instead. Like Highlander it wears its heart on its sleeve and doesn’t care how dumb it looks. It’s %100 hot booded enthusiasm.
RIP Anita Mui

I've not heard of it before, but anything with Anita Mui is worth a watch. She had the most amazing expressions.

She’s incredibly beautiful in this movie, and I mean this in the most wholesome way possible. The director knew to balance the action out. The other two heroes are Maggie Chung and Michelle Yeoh so...this is a total dream cast for some people.
Btw, at this time I would like to tell Tom Cruise and all the fans of his “real stunts” to get bent.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End: I get why people hate this, its weird and bloated, a lot of the acting is wooden and it was trying to be this huge epic franchise when most people just wanted a straightforward action/adventure/comedy. However I still enjoy the action and the comedy for what it is, the duo of Mackenzie Crook and Lee Arenberg always gets a chuckle out of me and Geoffrey Rush is enjoyable from just how much he's enjoying the role. Chow Yun Fat really didn't need to be there though.
Babe: Pig in the City: I just really enjoy Magda Szubanski in this one. Don't think I really need to say anymore.
That's about all I can think of at the moment.
Movies I hate/dislike/think are overrated that most people don't:
Harry Potter & The Half Blood Prince: This film just looks horrible, seriously it's so dark you can barely see anything.
Starship Troopers: I've just never liked this film, didn't like it when I first saw it and still don't although it has been a few years. I can't really describe what it is about it that puts me off but I just couldn't get into it at all.
Toy Story 3: I don't really dislike this one I just think it's very overrated. Obviously I don't know if this was intentional or not but it recycles a load of story elements from the first and second films and just overall left me pretty underwhelmed.
Loved Movie I Hate: Beauty & The Beast (2017) Hated Movie I Love: Tom & Jerry: The Movie (1992)
I understand why others love/hate these movies and I don't love/hate them too terribly much. By "love", I mean "enjoy" and by "hate", I mean "not a fan".
I'm just going to come right out and say it. I hate the Godfather movies. They are so long, boring and overrated. I remember seeing the first one as a kid when I was probably too young to watch it. I really enjoyed it. Sat down to rewatch them all a few years back and by the end I was begging for sweet relief. I just dont think they hold up.
One of my favourite comedies on LD is Ace Ventura Pet Detective. I know a few people who turn their nose up to that kind of low brow comedy.
I'd agree with you on part 3, but part 1 and especially part 2 are right up there on the best of all time chart.
Agree 100%
What do you think this is the Army, where you shoot 'em a mile away? You've gotta get up close like this and - bada-BING! - you blow their brains all over your nice Ivy League suit.

Never actually seen this.
But Maggie Cheung man, she was my ultimate crush of the '90s. She's got a tiny bit of Shannon Doherty (big fan) in her looks but hotter..

While I don't know or have the time to check the other pages if I posted before, I'll post some info on films I hate, I know you all are shocked that rein-o hates stuff but for the most part the films I had are surprisingly the same films I hated when I first saw them.
A film like The Krays, saw that at the theater and hated it, then saw it again I think 5 years ago and hated it just as much, just lacking something. There are a lot of films like this for me, not subject matter just a film that is bad and I hated it.
I do like bad films too and like good films, and hate good films as well.
I know of two other people who are fans of this movie. I’ve never heard another person say one good thing about it. It betrays the original subject and Robert Altman’ career. It’s very politically incorrect and quite a few sections of the movie just suck. However I love that POS car and I love the way they torture that a-hole insurance agent. Mostly I love the car.
From the Wiki:
“O.C. & Stiggs is the adventure of two Arizona teenagers. In their car, the Gila Monster, they pick up sl**s (loose women) and torture their nemesis, Randall Schwab, while procuring liquor from "Wino Bob" (a bum who lives in the oleander bushes behind the 7-Eleven).”
You won't be wanting my Godfather Saga and Godfather Epic 7.5 and 9.5 hour special edits Laserdiscs then.
I did read your post about those discs. Sounds interesting. I did say to myself when I was reading it that if I were to watch the godfather movies again, maybe it would be the chronological version on Laserdisc. At least I could get something different out of it. Definitely wouldn't do it in one sitting though.
I dislike 10 things Hate About You and any movie that Heath Ledger is in. To me he's a dirty hippy.
That movie represents early 2000s mediocrity in all aspects.
I also dislike The Day After Tomorrow and all SFX films since because basically all CGI sucks a**. Obviousy most people like it or we wouldn't live in this suckfest that is 2020.
