So I was watching this show called Brooklyn 99 and I was very amuse by the fact that the main character "Peralta" still makes mixtapes and listen to cassetts. The thing is that after a couple of episodes I found one with laserdiscs and cool movie references so I felt in the obligation to post it here.
to be fair they used it a lot in school. though I had a friend who had one and we watched Ab Fab which was great and I wanted one but not until 2005/2006. I should never have gotten rid of my CLD-980 it came with everything minus the box
Warning In the Cold Night 1990 is basically a softcore p0rn0 and is rated NC-17. There's a bunch of Nude scenes so I wouldn't suggest it for families.
In the Cold of the Night 1990 has a laserdisc appearance and it makes absolutely no sense when they show it. I don't want to spoil the movie but I just have to say the laserdisc is quite out of place in this movie. I'm also wondering how many people watched this movie back in 1990 and thought what the f is this. I mean did people actually know what laserdisc players were back then? When I was growing up in the 90s I didn't hear anyone talk about laserdiscs. My father told me he had one single customer with a laserdisc player and it was some italian guy. My father is a carpenter.

Can't find a screenshot online but in Gorgeous (1999) (Uncut) [PILF-2824], Jacky Chan owns a NEC Hi-Vision Fish Tank because.... "you don't have to feed them, and they don't die"
And his love interest (Shu Qi) later shows hims the beauty (cruelty?) of a real tiny fish tank with too many fish inside.
This may have already been mentioned but i'm too tired to browse the topic but wasn't there a laserdisc reference by Phil Hartman in Small Soldiers or was that just a Satellite TV or VHS player? I believe Hartman's character mentions something about the chroma being off and he tries to tweak the television. It was probably either a satellite tv or a laserdisc player.

And they switch off the NEC box.

The same Shu Qi from So Close and The Transporter?
From both the future and the past comes today's LaserDisc music album. This disc is never touched by a reading head nor stylus tip, and therefore the quality will never be lost! This album will stand the test of t-t-t-t-time, and also-so-so-so making it ski-ip-ip-ip-ip proo- - - - CORRUPT DISK / FIX LASER - - -
If you haven't seen it, there is a cartoon that's called "Regular Show" It quite entertaining, anyhow season 4 episode 30 Is entitled "The Last LaserDisc" It quite a funny episode about format war.

On the wall at my university! “American Government” - an educational documentary? Maybe the professor who is has the disc hanging beside his door was featured on it.

Although not "unexpected" .... There are multiple references to "laserdisc's and laserdisc players" in Ernest Cline's book READY PLAYER ONE ! Reading the novel again and thought I would mention here while browsing topics. Peered at background scenes of the movie, however could not verify in the myriad of cluttered takes.
The book is a bane of nostalgia for any that liked the movie. For the record, the novel is 199% better then the film. No Brainer on that score. Sequal novel READY PLAYER TWO was also good, however my vote is that the first novel captures the reader far more intensely! ! ! !
Cheers to the membership !
