In the 70's and 80's some disks were squeezed/anamorphic even though they were only ever viewed on a regular TV. Let's put a list together!

Discovision (per blam1's site)

- Jaws 2
- Rollercoaster (some sides/reels)
- The Great Waldo Pepper

Post-Discovision:

- The Black Hole
- Norma Rae (Japan pressed US release. Unfortunately it speckles like a bad Discovision!)

possible:

- On Her Majesty's Secret Service (the early 80's VHS was squeezed, it looked funny on the TV)

there are some discs that do have a squeezed look but these are not meant to be squeezed discs.
I have a pan and scan disc that is squeezed slightly, but its right in the middle.
watching as 4x3 it has a slight squeeze but watching it 16X9 it is stretched too much, so its not exactly a squeezed disc.

Vertigo (1958) [40082] is stretched like that for the first two sides, IIRC the aspect is something like 1.6:1 if the image is correctly de-anamorphosised (if that's the word?) on a display capable of adjusting the image width, somewhere near the 1.5:1 ratio of an unmatted VistaVision element although I think the transfer is from 35mm. Haven't compared it to the Blu-ray (1.85:1 I think) to see if there's any additional image area visible. Side 3 is straight 4:3, probably cropped.

Years ago I had one of the original fullscreen releases of Halloween and it definitely was squeezed. The aspect ratio was way off as people were stretched. Years after I sold it, I got my first widescreen LCD tv and I remember wishing I still had the movie to see if it would "zoom out" to the correct ratio.

The Lost Boys initial LBX US Warner LD looked like it was squeezed, to me. As does the "Special Longer Version" of Star Trek TMP (proportions look correct when stretched to 1.78:1, so still cropped from scope).
