krbahr wrote: Hate to say this but if it is upside down and reversed then the sign-bit (MSB) in the digital memory has issues. The board on the top right is DVD only so that would be OK. The board underneath is the LD board and final signal output drivers. The problem is probably somewhere in the video processor to it's memory IC or to the 3 line digital comb filter. Okay then that makes sense. I keep a look out for a another model and get some parts off it unless I see spare parts on there own. Cheers that was easily helpful information.

rein-o wrote: Sounds like it could be a laser issue. Did you try to contact Grasshopper??? Kurtis is on here more than Duane so hopefully he will chime in. Its not the laser its soundly okay otherwise it I'd be or should be seeing some odd distorted image and the DVD as well which is soundly okay. So seems like, krbahr is spot on right.

Yes, seems so, he is the tech and I'm not just guessing. Sorry to hear your player is giving up. Good luck on getting another one soon

I'm cool. its only a snag. Trouble is the player seems to have gained some popularity with the price going up on it. Is it the cosmetic appearance of the player/s as there are other models that look similar or its combo features? I got that for £100 some 8 years ago now and that wasn't a bad going price.

krbahr wrote: BTW: the DVD uses the other pickup that is back in the turn mechanism, the unit should switch pickups and play a DVD just fine. I don't follow its so hot this weather. You mean part pic, below (my own player). Or the turn-mechanism located at the back. It sounds normal to all the videos on youtube same sound/s that it makes no jamming or delay, just smooth turn over, pick-up speed to next side B. BTW: played a bit of STAR TREK II PAL P/S yesterday and it seemed to run fine. Its like its got a mind of its own and will only do the "funny" as and when it likes? If I have the camera nearby next time I try and video a few seconds of it. Also, Also, krbahr any idea what the DVD-board was used in what Pioneer stand-alone DVD player of the 90's?
