Somebody wrote here that Star Wars Episode I was his favourite film ? He can't be serious.

Another great film I remember from the 80s was Angel Heart. That is the best horror film ever made, period.

I think one of my favourite post-2000 films must be Letters from Iwo Jima even though I have to say that the CGI used during the battle sequences
didn't age too well. The Thin Red Line didn't use any CGI at all and it just looks so realistic whereas in Letters from Iwo Jima you can really see that a lot
is computer rendered but the film itself is fantastic. The score is quite excellent, too.

Not only is The Killer a better film than ABT, but ABT2 is better too.

Wish I could afford the LD that's listed here now.

You need all that super fast action in silky smooth analogue video!

Wait a minute, you don't own the Killer on LD??
Isn't it cheap to pickup??

Haven't seen A Better Tomorrow in a while, I didn't think it was bad but I did feel that the Killer was better, but I will have to watch Tomorrow again.
There was more story from what I can remember.

Never got around to it, was taking about ABT2 tho, rare.

Yeah the shootouts are just way better in The Killer. The finale to ABT is dissapointing in a gunplay sense.

There are a lot of films that I really like.
If I had to pick some I especially like, then maybe the list would be like this: [excluding anime]
-Dawn of the Dead (1978)
-To Live and Die in L.A.
-Blade Runner
-Heat
-Traffic (sadly not on LD)
-Drive (also not on LD)
-Sonatine
Not necessarily in this order, but these movies I enjoy to re-watch at least once a year, and I never get tired of them.
There might be some more that I should have mentioned, but oh well.

Sonatine is a fave of mine too. Got the Japanese LD five years back on a trip. Most Kitano films are basically a remake of this though and I love every second.

On LD, one of my all time favorite movies is Colossus: The Forbin Project (see avatar at left... :) ) from 1970.

This movie is a bit of an unknown sci-fi drama/cult classic which, IMHO, is very, very well done. The story is fascinating in context of today's world since the movie foreshadows the role technology plays in running our world.

When this movie was made, the internet, networking, communications, artificial intelligence, etc. were no where near what they are now -- yet the premise of this movie is still very relevant today. It's interesting stuff.

Heh - I remember seeing (and enjoying) that when it was first broadcast. Obviously very dated on the technology but still pretty interesting.

You might like this movie:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0067551/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2

Way ahead of its time in terms of identity theft via technological means. Not a great movie by any stretch but still entertaining. Never released on LD and only briefly released on budget dvd (the type you would find in a dollar bin with a thin cardboard sleeve - no tray even) - at least as far as I know.* Actually a murder mystery but the technology plays an important role in the plot.

*Edit -looks like you can currently get it - but apparently only as low quality dvdrs. The old budget dvd I have of it is of mediocre quality.
