That's ~US$305/title.

The problem is his asking price is above what buyee allows. This pretty much eliminates all potential none Japanese buyers.

And at an average of around 32,000Y then for the most part they're overpriced; ok they may be "mint with obi" but considering these are resealable covers there is absolutely no guarantee they are unopened, besides the whole point for me of buying anything like this is to watch it - not leave it hanging on the wall as some wanker that paid way too much for it.....
If the seller auctioned them off individually without an inflated opening price then there's three titles I'd actually be interested in.

Haha well I'll just quietly eat my words.

Seems someone with deep pockets thought it was worth it for an instant collection!

Let me guess... our Korean friend dune38 will have them all listed within a week time?

'm probably stupid but I can play normal discs with a MUSE player right? I think I will stick with my LDS1 or somehow get the LDS2 from Duncan but I might have to give up on that due to my life being complicated right now.

Yes of course.

For Pioneer, "CLD" gets you CD+LD while "LD" is LD only and "HLD" is MUSE+LD, etc.

When you play a MUSE disc on a HLD-X0 or X9 a big [HD] logo will appear on the front panel.

It's all relative.
You could buy 10 brand new DVD players for the same price as your used LD player so which is the better buy?
You could also buy used LD players all day long from Japan. They are not remotely rare.
Those MUSE discs don't turn up that often especially in one big job lot with some apparently still sealed and all certainly complete.
Most specimens I've seen on Ebay are fairly tatty, incomplete and still sell for hundreds.

Conversely, you could buy a Hi-Vision player, MUSE decoder and still have enough money left to buy some discs to watch on it too at the price of this job lot.

That way you don't have to buy any of the more questionable quality titles in this lot either. :D

A nice BTTF3 with obi, the only title that I still miss in my MUSE Collection.

...almost impossible to find. To a decent price I mean.

So out of interest I did a quick analysis of disc sales (YJP) that I've kept records for about the last 4 years (Okay I may have missed a few low buy-it-now prices that got snapped up quickly but I check quite regularly and think it's a fair representation).

Filtered the list to the 31 titles - Only 'Far and Away' didn't have a sale I picked up in that time, many multiple sales on some.

Filtered out those without the obi. (admittedly in a couple of cases this would include the side obi present but where the Hi-vision sticker was missing).

Got an average of about 20,200Y. So the lot was on average in excess of 10,000Y more per title. There was a wide range of pricing in the sample too, highest was 66.000Y for a copy of BTTF II, lowest 6,450Y for Basic Instinct. Sadly when I filter out my purchases from that the average jumps to around 24,000. Obviously I missed some bargains and/or paid too much for others!

I realise there are flaws in my analysis - mostly noted above - but this does illustrate there was definitely a premium paid for this large lot 'instant collection'. Mum was right - patience is a virtue!!

Having said all that, just like laserdisc_fan said it's all relative, if I'd just won lotto the week before might have pounced on them myself!!

A few more here (Okinawa Underwater, A River Runs Through It, Basic Instinct) with a lower starting price (+ HLD-X9):

They might have had lower starting prices but look at the final ending prices:

Basic Instinct $365
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Basic-Instin ... Sw3HxajWFG

Terminator 2 $354
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Terminator-2 ... SwRTVaakSb

Sleepless in Seattle $312
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SLEEPLESS-IN ... SwnsRaUTy0

Wolf $306
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/WOLF-HI-VISI ... SwIBJaUTuM

In the line of fire $305
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IN-THE-LINE- ... Sw2tFaUTkw

Stargate $214
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hi-Vision-Mu ... Swor1agwaG

A River Runs Through It $211
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/A-River-Runs ... SwwZtajWB-

All these copies on Ebay I refer to were incomplete specimens missing OBI and all had a significant amount of wear to the covers.
I know which I'd prefer if I was spending that kind of money!

At those prices (given most of those are not the rare ones) you'd endup paying far more than that complete set of MINT copies.

Yes, for relatively common titles like T2 and Basic Instinct these fetched the highest prices of them all! I think people buying these on ebay are not well informed and possibly swayed by those crazy high priced Muse discs there that never seem to actually sell.

Average T2 price for the past 3-4 years without obi is about 14,000Y, so around $130US on current exchange rate. With obi 15,200Y/$145. Basic Instinct without 13,000/120; with 16,000/150. The degree varies but they are all overpriced compared to my observations.

Why I never have and probably never will buy a Muse title off ebay!

Basic Instinct sold for 365 US $ !!! That is a terrible release. Believe me the SQZ LD looks better than this MUSE LD !!! And it has AC3 audio.

Indeed Basic Instinct MUSE is one of the worst discs they released.
But I guess if you want a complete collection on your shelf it might
still be worth something. The box looks pretty nice after all.

Yes that's true. The Basic Instinct MUSE Box looks very nice indeed ! It's the best looking one in my collection but the video itself looks terrible.

In fact, it was the first MUSE disc I played on my current setup. The video looked so bad but I was convinced that the decoder or the player must be broken.
