They seem to be good at signal generators. Their last VP (Video Processor) was discontinued in 2005: http://www.astrodesign.co.jp/english/discontinued-items-video.htmlDoesn't look very promising. Stick to Crystalio and Lumagen Julien

No I am really interrested in the japanese products : http://www.astrodesign.co.jp/astro_upda ... er2011.pdfIf you search for SC-2067-MD1 model, it can do many things. It has Y/C filtering, upscaling, PC control, PAL/NTSC, Hi/low resolution SDI, VGA, DVI, HDMI support, and lot of resolution support (p8). It seems very impressive. And the price was around 1.400.000 yens (!), maybe the double of most expensive lumagen. I am just really curious !

How exactly do you connect your LD Player in Composite to take advantage of a better Y/C filtering? http://www.astrodesign.co.jp/astro_updata/Catalog/SC/SC-2067-MD1.pdfJulien

mimylovesjapan wrote: I thought that "VBS" was same meaning as "RCA"... It might be RF composite indeed (TV signal), just haven't seen it labelled like that outside of Japan before: http://www.interfacebus.com/Design_Connector_Video.htmlQuote: Composite Video may also be called VBS [Video, Blanking and Syncs], or CVBS [Color, Video, Blanking, and Sync]. Next to 0 mention of Astro Design (except for digital video generator models) on AVS Forum. Unless you can borrow one for free to test it, I think it's a complicated path to follow. Julien

Today I bought 2 machines of this brand on yahoo + 1 interresting machine of other brand. Couldn't resist^^ One is a scan converter : IDK VUC-01 For 8200 yens (with sending fees) The selling price in 2004 was 100.000 yens ! RCA in -> DVI / RGB out One is a line doubler : ASTRO SC-2054-A For 7900 yens (with sending fees) Selling price around 2004 was also around 100.000 yens maybe more ! RCA in -> RGB out One is a multimedia scan converter : ASTRO MC-2018 For 6000 yens (!) (with sending fees) It was a very expensive machine around 2007, maybe more than 500.000 yens ! up to 4 RGB in -> RGB / DVI out I plan to do 4 player comparaison on the same screen with this player ! You can have up to 4 video source, and display them to one screen. You can also rotate, control border, and many other things ! I will test 3 of the machine and give a report soon If someone is interrested, (the ASTRO SC-2054-A and MC-2018) machine were sold in double, then I can resell the second machine for around the half of the price + sending fees. I will post again after recieving the machines ! (very excited !)
