Just thoroughly tested Apollo 13 and True Lies with no success. I tried switching between optical, coax, analog RCA. I tried every setting in the receiver, especially PLII as the receiver even defines that as expanding Dolby digital signals. The receiver keeps recognizing the signal as PCM still. I also tried switching the audio tracks in the DVL-700, analog 1/L, 2/R, digital 1/L, 2/R with emphasis on the analog 2/R track, but still nothing. One thing I thought was strange though was no matter which channel I selected the audio is exactly the same. Reading the directions it sounded like I should get hissing or jarbled audio or something. Also the DVL-700 said "analog 1/L only" even though it let me select 2/R. Now I'm wondering if this is just a limitation of the DVL-700? The instruction manual is heavily centered on the DVD portion of the player and most Dolby surround references are in relation to the DVD play back. I'd test my VP-1000 but I'm pretty sure it's incompatible! Ha ha

Then set your A/V Received in Surround/PLII/DTS-Neo/etc. to extract the center and surround information from the stereo source. - For Dolby Digital, your DVL-7000 is actually smart to NOT let you select Analog 2/R because that would be a lot of white noise that could damage your speakers when played too loud. In that case you NEED to use the AC3RF Out plug of the player into an AC3RF compatible device and select this input on the A/V side to detect DD 5.1ch.
- For DTS, nothing to do but use COAX/TOSLINK (digital) straight to your A/V Receiver, it will detect DTS 5.1ch automatically.
Would that help? Julien
