So now I need to come up with another converter and upscaler as my projector only has HDMI and component inputs. Don't toss it, check to make sure the power supply is still working, I believe it has a wallwart right?? I also remember reading that someone had some unit that wasn't working until they got the correct power supply. You can also plug the yellow "Video" into I believe its the "Green" of the component, it works with all my gear but I just picked up a TV for free and it won't work on that one. But it works on my projector and newer TV.

I just hope the low voltage didn't screw up anything inside the vp30.. but hey this is what happens when you buy things 2nd hand for a bargain. I got 2 years of use out of it. So even if it is junk I at least got my moneys worth out of it

rein-o wrote: How can anything get damaged with lower not higher voltage??? It would be messed up with higher voltage or wrong polarity. Im worried that it might have got an amp spike when the power supply died. When voltage drops amps go up

Im worried that it might have got an amp spike when the power supply died. When voltage drops amps go up Nah I'm sure it's fine.. I'm just a little worried because it was pretty dramatic when it happened. The screen flashed a bunch of different colors and there was a sharp high pitched squeal though my receiver speakers. Then the unit just shut off.

Sounds like when R2 got shot up riding Luke's X-wing.. My VP50 died after about a year (not dramatically), I got an official power supply and it came back to life : ) Then I watched ESB Jp Difinitive in proper aspect ratio with English subs positioned off-screen. Kind of like when R2 was repaired in time for ESB.. : ) Let's face it, our relatively cheap, rough and ready used DVDO units are our droids..they couple with our "X-wings", our LD players, they're not fancy but they have personality, work and we love em ooh, ooh and ebay is a Jawa Sandcrawler... okay now maybe I'm getting carried away..

I thought eBay was the dark side of the force Speaking of ebay, star wars, and laserdiscs I just won an auction for the definitive collection.

gypsy wrote: Yeah it's very likely the power supply. The original ones are crap. Consider a heavy duty one. Might run you more than the DVDO itself though. I'll have to keep an eye out for one... for now I just ordered the cheapest one I could find. It should be here monday

Just am update on the dvl-90 at the video store. I swung in earlier today and it was gone ... guess I should have bought it when I had the chance.. oh well.. at least the owner of the store said that he does get LD players in fairly frequently. There is a dvl-909 on Craigslist that comes with 50 discs (the majority of which i do not own) for $200 that I am thinking about getting. The only real down side is that it is a 2 hour drive from me
