Yes, that's correct.

Your Harman Kardon AVR 75 is AC3-RF compatible but the Sony MDP-650D will require a AC3-RF out hack to get the signal out.

It’s true that there are JP titles with CC but they are extremely rare. LD+G was more common, usually used on later Hollywood movies. Sometimes you get both CC and LD+G and they look almost the same.

I would say "not that rare".

Japan LD + CC = > 304 releases
Japan LD + CC/LD-G => 578 releases

So far I've seen a NEC model for Europe New Zealand (and Australia): NEC TX-101NZ

Other Japanese models designed for Japan probably only process TELETEXT over NTSC?

Didn't catch this one until today:

eBay International fees
https://www.ebay.com/help/selling/fees-credits-invoices/international-fees-ebay-global-sellers?id=5224

Additional 1~2% on total before local VAT is added.

I guess there's only 3 things certain in life: death, taxes and that eBay fees will keep increasing forever.

So I imported one from Japan and just got it and plugged it in and it makes a clicking noise in back. It doesn't come on fully. Red light comes on for 3 seconds and it shuts off. I don't have a step up/down transformer this won't work on 125v? So would getting a step up/down transformer get it working?

I would definitely use a 100V converter for the X0, you are asking for trouble.

Since I don't have it working yet cosmetically speaking this is the best well built Laserdisc player I have ever seen. It's amazing. It even blows the Mcintosh 7020 away for build quality this and the X9 don't get me wrong love those Mcintosh's though.

The McIntosh is a Pioneer CLD-97 , the X0 is one step above in chassis and weight. SO heavy!!

On another note I realize that the laser displayer goes from the a C3 RF out into the demodulator to the demodulator and the demodulator into the home theater receiver I guess what I'm asking is the best way to do that and When I watch a DVD on this laser displayer do I need to run audio from the laser displayer straight to the home theater receiver or will the same audio audio wires going through the demodulator work

Specifically for the Lexicon LDD-1 which is a passive pass-through (in coax only), you should output Digital to the LDD-1 via Coax, not optical/Toslink.

This way it will work even when powered off and will only need to be turned on for AC3RF demodulation or (selectable) Optical input.
This can even be achieved via external 12V remote trigger with the right cable if your A/V amp has such capabilities.

Do these have removable multiple fuses like some Pioneer LD players do? I am thinking maybe one fuse blew when I turned it on. Not enough to kill all power but enough to get it to not power up all the way.

Not sure... The Service Manual might offer some answers:

https://manuals.lddb.com/LD_Players/Pioneer/HLD/HLD-X0/

Here they are: 125V fuses

You can start by taking a look at the soundtrack help section:

https://www.lddb.com/help/sound/

No need to disconnect anything. Oh, and always RTFM first, everything you need to do is graphed for you already:

See page six of the following manual......

https://manuals.lddb.com/AC3RF_Demodulators/Lexicon_LDD-1-EN.pdf

Connect Digital Coax and AC3RF to Lexicon, and Lexicon to A/V Amp Digital in.
Connect Analog Stereo from player to A/V Amp analog input.
You might have to select manually between Digital and Analog on the Amp.

Digital Audio / DTS + AC3RF -> Coax -> Lexicon (auto-switching when AC3RF is detected) -> Amp digital in
Analog L/R -> Amp analog in

That's all you'll ever need.

LDD-1 A+D cabling.JPG

To listen to Left Analog, using player remote to select Analog L, and set Amp to Analog in.
To listen to Right Analog, using player remote to select Analog R, and set Amp to Analog in. (no sound with AC3 LDs, it's a protection).

 Post subject: Re: Hardware/Parts Shop
Posted: 20 Sep 2022, 05:32

Hello!

Actually I've been working on this (not the shop part yet, that's the endgame).

I have a table of devices (loosely defined as "needs a power cable/source to operate normally" but there are exceptions like the expansion boards of the CLD-A100) where all connectivity details are kept.

=> https://www.lddb.com/hardware.php

I treat DACs separately because they are attached to the audio output.

https://www.lddb.com/hardware/part/dac/

We could imagine something similar with video processing chips (PAL, NTSC, MUSE, etc.).

I also have a table for parts that is, as of now, only brand/commercial ref/internal ref/description.

You can see it in this post: https://forum.lddb.com/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=8215&p=128529#p128529

Ex: Pioneer / CU-CLD130 / VXX2364/ Remote Control

Then I have a table for Device <-> Parts relationship/compatibility.
It can be 1 part compatible with N devices.
It can be 1 device compatible with N parts.
Or simply 1 part compatible with 1 device.

For CU-CLD130, it's 1 to 2 as it's listed as compatible with:

Pioneer CLD-K8V
Pioneer CLD-K99V

Here is a crude display of the current draft table, manually being moved from https://forum.lddb.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=5991:

https://www.lddb.com/part.php

We could imagine the same thing for belt, m-holder, etc.

As for LDs before, the logical steps are database -> edit/submit -> collection -> wishlist -> shop.

I'm at the collection step right now.

Julien

PS: but dev is halted for a little while because.... September 19th was " Talk like a Pirate Day " and the perfect timing to release another round of Guybrush Threepwood adventures!

I'm torn.

This release (based on a 2018 mix that was shelved) is quite a surprise given that Pink Floyd is negotiating the sale of their whole catalog.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-10947693/Pink-Floyd-talks-sell-music-catalog-500M-richest-music-sales.html

It might be a tactical move to prove that their catalog still holds value well.
That would explain the multi-format release to show the appeal to different people.

Al Di Meola was live in Tokyo Billboard on Oct 10th and 11th.

Got ticket for the 2nd show on the 11th, yesterday.

Had prepared Al Di Meola Project: Live at Montreal International Jazz Festival (1988) [VPLR-70649] and Al Di Meola Project: Live at the Palladium (1991) [PILJ-1117] for signing, as well as my 1976 "Land of the Midnight Sun" LP but they announced a separate "VIP Sound Check" afternoon session where you could get items signed. Couldn't go to that one, work commitments.

Organizers: For the evening sessions, "no meet & greet or signing will be possible".
Me: hold my sake.

I think this was the case in most of the other neighbouring countries on this side of the pond too, maybe Julien can confirm regarding France?

France was a bit of a mess with multiple logos.

They sometimes decided to use the "CD Video" and call it "Compact Disc Video".
https://www.lddb.com/cover/ld/27901-28000/thumb/27909.jpg

Then later updated to Laser Disc:
https://www.lddb.com/cover/ld/32601-32700/thumb/32625.jpg

This is Analog with "Laser Disc":
https://www.lddb.com/cover/ld/44901-45000/thumb/44921.jpg

But I couldn't easily find an example of a Laservision with Digital audio.

Wonder how many from all versions of Speed and the likes of T2 etc :lol:

Don't throw a stupid challenge at me, you KNOW I'll give it a try!!

Based on the IMDb entry (for matching/counting), we are at:

SPEED = 1,794
T2 = 3,612

How about a quick Top 10? (still based on the IMDb # associated to a title, removing whole series such as "Star Trek").

Ready for the Blockbusters? (Speed is #12)

3,612 - Terminator 2: Judgment Day
2,793 - Jurassic Park
2,710 - Star Wars: A New Hope
2,471 - Blade Runner
2,427 - Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back
2,258 - Star Wars: Return of the Jedi
2,038 - Aliens: Special Widescreen Collector's Edition
2,015 - Abyss, The
1,991 - Independence Day: Special Edition: ID4
