That's an easy request because... it already exists :-)

The base search engine for the forum was just too limited, discarding dashes (-) making searches on "HLD-X9" almost impossible.

Il'l trust Google to do a better job at this :-)

I'm not sure if he'd like me sending 3MB pics via email, the submission info says maximum 150KB/picture.

Please send the bigger version, I'll realign/crop/filter if needed.

For big files, you can drop them in my cloud following the steps here: https://forum.lddb.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=38

Make sure to zip them with meaningful filenames and/or a little text file for describing which #LDDB you are uploading them for!

I changed it, no problem but could it simply be?

Done.

It should show as a small, half transparent (to differentiate it from the seller's comments) "added YYYY/MM" on each item.
I don't think the day/time is relevant.

Gives a little more guidance for a best offer if the disc has been lingering in a shop for years!
Can you gather virtual dust?

Just wondering if there's something I've missed ... I'm buying more and more LDs online, and would like to keep track of how much I'm actually spending! Is there a field that I've missed that I can record how much I've actually paid for a movie? I'd just like to be doing everything in one place instead of having a second database just for pricing (although that's always an option, of course).

Have you used the "User Notes" field in your collection? (the following icon poping up on each line: https://www.lddb.com/images/icon/edit.gif )

https://forum.lddb.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=4558

Notes will then be included in the global collection searching.

Hello everyone!

For the longest time I believed that "Sample" copies with the sticker on the cover were simply normal production batches that were picked up randomly, got a sticker, and were shipped around as test/preview.

But I found out that I was a little wrong about it. They put a little more efforts in making sample (pre?) production batches because the disc labels ALSO indicate that the copy was a sampler.

It sometimes comes as an additional sticker on the label itself (見本盤) but most of the time the label is printed with these additional Kanjis.
That means they really made a separate batch of sampling copies before starting the real production batch.

Example:

It only took... 17 years? :-)

But 3 out of 5 is a good ratio to start considering doing more interesting things using the assumption that we have most of the covers.

For ex: all DTS covers or all AC3 covers

Of course it's a little more bandwidth hungry but we are not in 2002 anymore, that should be OK.

Maybe the lists could have the option to be text only/cover only/both ?

They both exist :-)

Akira: Video Clip + Ticket (1987) [AKIRA-1900]
Akira: Video Clip + Ticket (1987) [AKIRA-2000]

And disc labels shows both AKIRA-1900 and AKIRA-2000 so... same disc really.

But I can't figure out why the price went up (or down) by 100 yens.

Hello everyone!

Since the different flavors of soundtracks on DiscoVision/LaserVision/LaserDisc seems to be a somewhat complicated topic for new collectors or people trying to jump from/to PAL and NTSC or confused about the different soundtracks of MUSE/Hi-Vision discs, I started a draft help section here:

https://www.lddb.com/help_sound.php

For each example, I'm trying to give the earliest commercial release as possible (first stereo, first CX, first Digital, etc.).

I still have a big section on AC3 and DTS to draft, and then move to Hi-Vision (A-mode, B-mode, EFM, etc.).

Could you take a look at the draft and make some comments if I made mistakes or over-simplified things?

Seems a lot of early titles do not indicate any surround information on the jackets though it was present in the soundtrack, how should this type be classified?

Same for CED announced as "Stereo" but actually carrying over the surround information from the original masters.

Best way would be to ... just play the disc and turn on Prologic/Surround decoding to for sound the center/rear channels?

A random search on Google led me to a Japanese twitter post with a scan of this flyer.

emotion.bandai.co.jp.jpg

We already have:

Sakura Wars TV (2000) [BELT-1536] released March 16th 2001

But this one was unheard of (now added):

Invincible Robo Trider G7: Memorial Box 2 [BELT-1539] possibly released April 16th 2001

So I tried to travel back in time and they had ONE snapshot of the LD page here: https://web.archive.org/web/20001213020700/http://emotion.bandai.co.jp/ld/index.html

With more unknown releases!

Invincible Robo Trider G7: Memorial Box 1 [BELT-1538]
Infinite Ryvius: Infinity Box (1999) [BELT-1542]

https://www.suruga-ya.jp/database/pics/game/122026443.jpg

That's all I could extract from this source.

Of course, we have no idea what could have been planned as BELT-1537, BELT-1540 and BELT-1541.
