Hello everyone!

It's my first Anychart Dashboard and I kind of like it :-)

With Jurassic Park (1993) [43115] as a test, this was the previous layout:

This is the new one:

Hope you find it easier to read!

Different story in Japan, however they would almost certainly be optically censored.

Good example!

Was wondering why this didn't show up on the IMDB automated list and... that's because of a bug.

I claimed that only the "first 100" were trimmed but that meant the "first 100 parsed on the IMDb page", not the "first 100 in chronological order".

To fix that I'm now offering both options if the count goes above 100: first 100 or last 100 by chronological order .

Now the SILD-87076 titles is showing up.

Cache memory is still of 7 days.

Curious to know where the title 'Big Breasts' was referenced from for SILD-88073, since the sleeve picture is obviously Perfect Fit . Was it translated from an obi or is there an alternative Japanese title on the back cover?

I took it from an online listing before someone added the cover, didn't realize the name was completely wrong.

Just updated!

Thanks a lot Admin...it is just some of us know nothing :) about that cause our only one LD player still works, some day we will regret!

And now it's my turn to get quiet for a while because most of my week-ends are packed with friends visiting from all over Europe while I'm still near Paris, public transportation around the capital is under heavy upgrades creating all sorts of delays and rerouting, I'm having my first trip to Russia (St Petersburg) soon and my new job takes a lots of my brain CPUs until I get up to speed.

Just be a little patient ^_^;

given the forum's activity, I figured about only 100 or so people visit the site so the stores must be very inactive

There are a lot more people only reading the forum and not contributing.

But as accounts (still active -- that is with some activity in the past 3 years) go:

https://www.lddb.com/dispatch.php?id=2

LD Collections follow a similar pattern:

https://www.lddb.com/dispatch.php?id=3

As do Wishlists:

https://www.lddb.com/dispatch.php?id=4

The feedbacks (when left, that's not nearly often enough!) are also steady:

Been pending for 10+ years now indeed!

https://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/submit/45587/CW981002/Made-In-Hong-Kong

The reference number doesn't match anything existing and there is no other version of this movie by IMDb#.

So... it's been lingering, waiting for a confirmation it's not a DVD, VCD or VHS.

I'll PM the submitter for pics!

Is there any sort of signage on a cover i see for sale online that would alert me what the sound is on a disc ??

As long as PAL is concerned, you need to have Digital Audio on the cover (not Digitally Processed or Digitally Mastered ).
Seeing the CX logo is also a clue that it's a PAL analog soundtrack.

And best double-checking the database if the information is available.

You want to avoid PAL ANALOG: https://www.lddb.com/search.php?adv_search=*&adv_reference=&video=2&sound=1&format=ld

and PAL ANALOG-CX: https://www.lddb.com/search.php?adv_search=*&adv_reference=&video=2&sound=2&format=ld

So what is all your sci-fi inspired by? I mean before Heavy Metal Magazine.

MANY books (Press Pocket, Denoel, etc.), fanzines and comic books (the European style, big format with 60~70 pages and hard-cover) mostly.

This is what SF looked like to me in my teenager's years: Bradbury, Lovecraft, Matheson, Aldiss, Simak, Asimov, Clarke, Zelazny, Adams, Cowper, Pohl, etc.

Also had all the Frank Herbert books.
The only prerecorded VHS I ever had were Star Wars and Blues Brothers.

50407330_10156365695609139_1425917283867295744_n.jpg

And some animation before adapted from the books such as Maîtres du temps, Les (1982) [TE-D101]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_science_fiction

Science Fiction if France is considered a literature genre, not a TV/cinema one.
This remains a Hollywood privilege. When Luc Besson did The Fifth Element, he did it in an American style.

So next move is somehow pop a new fuse in..I have spare 250V rated fuses of the same size for some reason. Would it work to use one of these or would it impede the normal power supply since I'm only feeding it 110V? The original fuse is 125V rated of course.

250V rated fuse if plugged on 240V will guarantee you fry things deeper inside.

Stick to the original rating, not a good time to be creative in electronics design power protection!

Yeah I just checked apparantly you can load 250V fuses with the same amperage but after thinking it through, I want that 125V limit for a good reason! like you say.

I'll order a new fuse.

I'm my own worst enemy. Anyone here revived their LD player after doing something similarly dumb?

If the design was well made, the fuse took the hit and the power adaptation was spared.

If you are less lucky, the power adaptation level got hit but didn't damage anything further and the module only needs to be replaced.
Maybe the player had multiple worldwide releases at different input voltages, that would require a modular design.

If the design expected a perfect power feed with no extra margin, it's up to the original designers...

Mine has the side obi for Hotaru no Haka (Grave of the Fireflies) (1988) [SF098-1540]

Google (images) with "SF098-1540" to find it.

Both CLV and CAV have a side obi.

Any tips/ideas for a newbie like me?

Rule #1 - Avoid all USA Warner Titles

Especially the combo discs (HDDVD/DVD).

They will rot to death over the years, assuming they're still playable today.

It didn't reach reserve price.

Maybe it will get relisted separating players?

For Japan this would be considered taking too much space, regardless of the price.

700+ covers among which 250 covers are new, pushing the cover(age) above 59%.

Most of the 700 are including both front and back covers.

From Samuel Goldwyn's catalog:

Samuel Goldwyn Home Entertainment - The Classic Collection

I have 9 list now (based on cover) when usually I wait for 10 titles in a same set to show up before creating a new collection.

I could only use the covers to find out by myself which title belongs to this collection. If you have/know of a few more, don't hesitate to send updates!

Guys,

Locking this topic which was about OBI and CAV version of a movie.... but forper started to give it a negative, condescending political spin so it has to stop here.

This is about Laserdisc you know :-)

And if you are in Tokyo before early October this year: Takahata Isao - A Legend in Japanese Animation

Been wondering was Nicolas meant by this comment "AHD" but now I know!

Vivaldi: The Four Seasons [AHM-1]

https://www.lddb.com/cover/vhd/01701-01800/thumb/01748.jpg

It actually "Audio Only VHD" that you can play like just for the music, no need to turn on the screen.

So... Would AHD be to VHD what DVD Audio became to DVD Video?

OK I will lose my internet access for a few days (hopefully not weeks) while moving to a new apartment in Shinjuku,

I worked hard to fill the gaps and IMDb coverage is above 60% now.
Covers are on their way to 60% as well.

And true to my word, since there is an overhead of about US$1,000 on donations , I set up 40 x $25 donations to KIVA loans with a repayment schedule between 8 and 24 months.

Feel good LDDb members, your are serving a good cause!
