The back of the jacket just calls it gold.

I use Shoe Goo but it needs to be even. Kinda hard since it dries so quickly. I put on top of old ring.

If it is just plastic gear issues, you can reference the service manual here and try some glueing.

CLD-3080, CLD-95, CLD-97 are my go-to Both Side Play units. Single side: CLD-3030, LD-S1, LD-S2.

My list is just strictly personal preference. It is what I have found I liked the most based on features + picture quality.

I need to service a LD-V8000 in the next few weeks. I will post back on how it compares to my CLD-3030 and LD-S2.

Substance's post here is the most objectively accurate comparison I have seen: https://forum.lddb.com/viewtopic.php?p=73623#p73623

I've only ever used the 8" GGVs. I have a few different ones but at a glance they all look the same. I think my beater disc is GGV1015 that I use for actual adjustments then check final adjustments with a pristine GGV1069.

I have a CLD-95. It is excellent. Much more low-noise, analog looking picture than your CLD-79.

What does the M-Holder (VNL1637) have to do with skipping? Why don't I ever see them on eBay anymore?
M-Holder holds the gears that move the optics along the track.

NOS M-Holders are incredibly rare and not worth buying unless VNL1779. You can verify if this is indeed broken and the cause of skipping on your CLD-D604. Help is on the way. 3D printed M-Holder betas are making their way around and should be available for sale soon.

Personally, I don't even think a double boxed VNL1637 would survive shipping...

It uses VEB1184.

I've done that. Referencing CLD-D406 and CLD-D604 SMs, they have the same base but different CD doors. I have a CLD-D604 tray I can sell, but someone here might have the entire assembly.

It seems my 315 is missing this IC802 that everyone is talking about. :/

Unplug your player, pull board and flip it.

Move R152 to R153 on the back of the FLKY board.

In the photos, the CLD-D604's VWG1600 is on the top and the PSLD46's VWG1650 is on the bottom.

Try cleaning and re-greasing first. Smoke will turn the old grease yellow.

Side A and B use same pickup.

If new grease does not resolve the issue, try making tiny adjustments to side B centering.

Anytime I see corrosion in remotes I disassemble them and neutralize it with vinegar.

Glad to hear it. These type of issues are the most frustrating to me.

I think you are just going to have to step through all the adjustments in the SM. If all those look good, you'll have to look at the boards.

Someone uploaded The 3M Scotch Laser Videodisc.... An Accessible Resource [---]

This is the most detailed video I've seen on laserdisc manufacturing!

SCQ3.8 from Marvac (they sell on eBay too).

You can manually eject the tray by turning the pulley the belt wraps around.

Avoid them at all cost unless they can show you a Pioneer test disc!

Glad to hear you were able to fix it yourself.

Look in SM for Side A centering adjustment screw.

Take a photo and/or mark current location. Without a scope it is tedious, but you can do trial and error extreme small turns left/right until the skipping on the CD is gone.

Thanks for adding that to the DB. I was thinking it would make more sense if it was CAV.

Yeah if you take the top plate off or nudge the shaft you can set it off center.

In the attached image, the square is the locking screw and the circle is the adjustment. Notice the yellow locking compound from the factory on the locking screw.

So question now is - anyone know of a guide or advice to try to correct an off-center spindle?...no service manual for this Sanyo unit I can find...are all spindles mechanically adjustable ?
Definitely need to try to find SM or something close to it. Spindle centering refers to the pickup's location relative to the spindle, so it is the location of the pickup that is moved on everything I've worked on.
