Is there any sort of signage on a cover i see for sale online that would alert me what the sound is on a disc ??

As long as PAL is concerned, you need to have Digital Audio on the cover (not Digitally Processed or Digitally Mastered ).
Seeing the CX logo is also a clue that it's a PAL analog soundtrack.

And best double-checking the database if the information is available.

You want to avoid PAL ANALOG: https://www.lddb.com/search.php?adv_search=*&adv_reference=&video=2&sound=1&format=ld

and PAL ANALOG-CX: https://www.lddb.com/search.php?adv_search=*&adv_reference=&video=2&sound=2&format=ld

I think some higher end players do play analog audio on both PAL and NTSC, but I don't think there are enough analog-only PAL discs worth getting to justify the investment.

The following Pioneer consumer (non-industrial) players will play Analog and Digital audio on PAL discs:

PAL Only:
CLD-1200
CLD-1400
CLD-1600
CLD-2950
CLD-600

NTSC / PAL:
CLD-1450
CLD-D515
CLD-D925
DVL-919E

The only ones I have direct experience with are the CLD-D925 and DVL-919E, both of which are excellent. The CLD-2950 is a step down, being equivalent to the CLD-D503 in the US. the CLD-2950, D515, D925 and DVL-919E are the only two sided players in this list.
