CLD-R7G has the silver finish and has quite a low profile That's odd since the R7G I had was gold.
Mine too but I think it's one of those finishes that does tend too look more silver in certain types of light? My first DVD player was a Pioneer DV717 of similar vintage with gold finish and the effect was the same, applies to X9 also I find.
Guess it depends on the lighting for mine.

And yes my R7G does not live on top of my VSA-E07 was a photo promo haha.
It was a wonder Saturday night, Everything is sorted for the week. We decide to spin a laserdisc. All is well in life, R7G is lit up with its power converter glowing softly and the VSA-E07 ready for the sound. Decide on Dante's Peak https://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/07833/43311/Dantes-Peak
Constant horizontal white small lines and audio drop outs. I guess my first laserrotted disc?
So got on bluray and after some popcorn and beer its not a bad watch. Great sound
I love it. Out of curiosity, does the CLD-R7G have LG decoding built in? I've a couple of discs I'd like to try LG captions on, most well-known one would be the GITS Premium Box. If not this might be worth looking in to importing.
Ive little to no use with LD-G with my R7, would be nice if could turn jap text OFF but its either on or can change so English is crudely place on top
Glad you have sorted out the 3D comb filter settings and saving. D-EXT i found wonders on some Jap discs. It really does shine while viewing later LD releases the R7G. How do you find the remote to use?
For me anyway, I play around for the first few minutes with the R7 settings and occasionally TV settings depending on the disc, Old LD, later release, animation, dark movies and Jap titles i may use dExT feature. I have my R7 off and power converter off so wont save settings but dont matter much for me.
Motorsport. Love it. Watched recently. "Easier said than done" www.youtube.com/watch?v=4xRioPhVIRE Incredible documentary about how hard it is to get in top level Rallying, WRC etc Ken Block, Petter Solberg etc etc. Unbelievable footage shown. Best Motorsport doco IMHO for along time
