In addition to the current Rightstuf sale, Sentai is doing one. A few things in there that were not included in the RS sale and then actually quite a bit of complete blow out prices. A fair number of things for $1, too many to list.
Placed a order about a week ago, it should arrive any day now. Almost every DVD release still in their inventory is at $1 now. Sadly, I already owned all but one of the DVD titles, so only got that one title. When I went to checkout one of the $10 BD titles I had in my cart was already sold out, ouch! Patlabor is actually out of print now, as the new owner of Sentai Holdings, AMC, killed it off the 'Maiden Japan' sub-company officially a couple of months back. So every thing Maiden Japan is now officially OOP. Will be interesting to see what titles they're able to transfer licenses over to Sentai from, at moment the only one publicly confirmed has been Gunbuster: The Movie , which has been released now two different times already by two different publishers on DVD and Blu-Ray each. Would be more keen to see them re-release Space Runaway Ideon and Xabungle , as those two had odd circumstances surrounding their Maiden Japan releases, with exceptionally low print runs. Xabungle had a reportedly poor quality SD BD release, when Japan apparently got full HD remastered transfers.

First DVD player was something crappy from RCA that had been a Wal-Mart display unit they sold cheap because the remote was missing. Was an okay unit, but it died less than two years later.
Second unit was some junky Apex unit we got for free when we switched to Eartlink dial-up ISP, and the Apex player was about as good as Earthlink, nothing special, but worked. During this time I got an Xbox and the DVD playback remote upgrade for it, which is what I used in my bedroom. In the living room the Apex unit started glitching horribly after a mere six months, and the warranty may as well have been printed on toilet paper as Apex refused to honor the one year warranty. We bought a Phillips DVD player, which even had HDMI output, and we used that unit right up until getting a Toshiba HD-DVD player. Living room we are still using the HD-DVD player as the upscaling it does is incredibly good. Now here in my bedroom I have been watching all my DVDs on my desktop PC, using various incarnations of Cyberlink PowerDVD, since around 2005.
Have a Philips dual-screen (each mounts on the back of a headrest) DVD player system in my car, not a great player where video quality is concerned as those screens are really crappy LCD panels, but it is what it is. Car has been broken down two years now as I have no job and thus no money with which to get it repaired, so rather a moot point anyways. |

Briefly owned, and flipped on Ebay, one of these players, with a disc in in back in August of 2005. Have e-mailed the pictures from my archive to Julien, sadly I didn't take pictures of the disc, but I do have the details of what the disc was thanks to my meticulous attention to providing detailed item descriptions. Relevant excerpt from my circa August 2005 Ebay listing description.:
The disc in the unit is labeled: Sony HDVS HDP-2347 [NOT FOR SALE]
MIDLAND PRODUCTIONS SEAWORLD OF FLORIDA "WILD ARTIC", Made in Japan . Disc has alot of scratches
on it, which for the most part appear to have been caused by some dust/debris that was caught on
the felt pads of the tray. |

This is not well known and it is up to the store personal to decline this but you could go to any Best Buy store and have them process the warranty claim even if the item was not purchased from Best Buy. You will need a proof of purchase for your item and it needs to be from an authorized retailer.
To be clear on this matter, no. I had customers trying to make this claim when I was still working there and it simply isn't true. It isn't up to employees, it's up to corporate. If the brand doesn't have a partnership agreement with Best Buy, Best Buy will absolutely not assist you with processing a warranty. The brands Best Buy had a partnership agreement with for Warranty processing during the recent years I was employed was only 3 or 4 brands total, and this was not a service we advertised, rather it was a service we were told to never tell customers about, and should someone show up wanting us to process a warranty for them we were to provide them with the toll free number service number of the company first and have them process the warranty directly and not come back unless they were told to bring the item to Best Buy, along with a printed Return Material Authorization confirmation number proving that the company had authorized the item to be processed through Best Buy. This was a headache to handle as about half the time the company would send back to our store a CIB re-certified identical or equivalent product, and 99% of the time the customer would act like a complete fool and try to claim that Best Buy was pulling a scam on them by not giving back the exact item they dropped off, even though it was completely outside of the control of Best Buy how the various companies processed warranty returns. So no, do not expect Best Buy to handle warranties for you on items you purchased from other retailers, because in reality they won't.
Ah, I forgot to ramble off the brands that Best Buy will sometimes handle warranty processing for. To be clear, Best Buy Corporation owns a stake in most of these brands.:
- Duraband
- Insignia
- PNY
- Sonos
Those were the only brands I remember Best Buy still having any formal agreements with to sometimes handle warrantied product returns on, and once again must re-iterate that Best Buy would not handle the full warranty processing on these items. The owner/customer had to initiate the process themselves and then had to additionally print out the proof to bring with them that the company had requested they check the item in through Best Buy's Geek Squad for the processing. This further requires the customer to make an appointment to see a Geek Squad Agent, as we ceased taking walk-in customers in 2017, and going through the item check-in process with Geek Squad. |

perhaps i ought to break down and give K-ON! a go one of these days...
It's pretty much just a feel good show with an all female cast. So there isn't really a plot to speak of. It's light and fluffy, you've seen it before in some form or another most likely, but it delivers on what it promises, basically.
It actually ends also, the movie wraps up and concludes the entire series. |

ROYAL SPACE FORCE - The Wings of Honneamise 4K Remaster Memorial Box
Sentai sent out a e-mail earlier today with the below attached announcement message-image. So the interesting thing here is that this is not a Sentai release, rather this is a Japanese release that Sentai has partnered with Bandai Namco Filmworks to offer in the U.S. market. Fancy way of saying it's not a cheap release, it is a limited edition, and there will be limited quantities made available for the U.S. market through Sentai's webstore. On a side note related; I can't help but feel like this is a early sign of the fallout occurring behind the scenes between Japanese studios & publishers and the now Sony owned RightStuf, as Sentai has never partnered up and directly offered a Japanese release before, but RightStuf use to do so frequently. |
