I believe the CLD-95 is based on the CLD-3080.
I own a 3070 and can't be happier with it, I am looking for a 3080 to compare, as its a nice looking player.

If were going for cosmetic looks, the Runcos(Lx900 clones) always looked nice!!!

Just my two-cents

I'm trying to get a Domesday Duplicator setup, as I have a ton of rare-ish LDs I'd like to preserve. The DD official website and Github page hasn't been super useful, and has left me with a lot of questions. Does it only work with a Pioneer LD-V4300D, or can I use another player? How do I attach the board(s) to the player? I can probably figure out how the ld-decode software works, but I'm totally lost on the hardware. Once I figure it out, I'd like to make a YouTube video about the process, as well as host the rips I take on my website. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Happycube knows all the answers to your questions.

You need a player with a raw EFM output. There are a few, I think they are all earlier decks, pro mostly.

I know someone using an LD-S9 with a DD setup, if I'm not completely mistaken you grab the "RF" signal on the board somewhere.
Usually the point is labeled "RF" so you basically cannot miss it :P

Well aren't pro decks usually fairly cheap because they're otherwise lacking in features?

The LD-V4200 has an EFM out port so that's one.

None of that is really complicated, if you get pre-assembled domesday, it's price tag that killed it for me. Which with shipping and tax was around 400 at the time.

Woah, I didn't know they had pre-assembled boards. I'd gladly pay a premium just to make sure I don't fry the board with my awful soldering. Where can I grab one at?

Also thanks for the info, it'll be a big help.

Ah, no I meant it's not difficult if you can get assembled board. In that sense. Since recently somebody was recruiting people in this forum to get preassembled DD boards. That part is most difficult.
So I was calculating 400 as grand total for everything. That would be over 100 for Nano and Cypress FX3 and less for Domesday PCB. And I mailed Domesday layouts and component list to several local workshops that advertise repair of electronics and soldering and 1 got back to me and said they could assemble it. But I decided it was all too expensive.
If you can get one assembled in China it should be cheaper potentially. And maybe those other two boards are cheaper now too.

It works with pretty much any working LD player, most of them have RF taps somewhere. The 1995 and later CLD's all have it labeled on a 11-pin header, which is nice. The EFM port was only used to see what the players did with the EFM on the disk.

I don't know of any pre-made boards right now alas.

Unless you have a UPS or a really good surge suppressor then unplugging old stuff is the safest thing to do. Aside from power fluctuations though leaving it plugged in forever is usually fine.

I unplug most things I'm not currently using. I have so much stuff a lot of it is packed away.

If your power supply ever fails due to something like this, it doesn't necessarily mean your player is dead and gone. It could be as simple as replacing a fuse. Either way it is probably more repairable than a dead optical pickup.

I leave my players unplugged when I'm not using them.

Nearly everything on Gr€€dBay is overvalued. Half the people on it think hoarding old tat will pay for their retirement.

It won't.

In the future, a lot of stuff will end up as photos in history books or museum relics because the new generation has no emotional attachment to the stuff that older generations treasure or feel nostalgic towards.

In the case of media, games, books etc, it is all digital. A throwaway society built on capitalism and materialism.

They just don't, and won't care. People will end up dying with their tat.

Okay, pulled out something special. This is the "anamorphic" version of "the fugitive". yes, that's right, it is one of those few sample promo discs from the USA that is anamorphic:

I thought I'd edit this post to make it another exciting comparison...

Disney's Sing Along Songs: Fun With Music (1989)

Big difference? The US release was "Fun With Music" (1989) and the international release "101 Notes of Fun" (1994).
"101 Notes of Fun" replaces "Let's All Sing Like the Birdies Sing" with "Cruella de Vil", and the reprise to "Why Should I Worry?" is replaced with the reprise to "Cruella de Vil".

The US LD and VHS were captured last year with Roxio Easy VHS to DVD Plus 3, respectively from a CLD-D505 and a VHS/DVD combo unit.
The JP LD was captured a few days ago with Canopus ADVC-110 and WinDV from my CLD-990.

"Ask not what you can do for SuperNTSC, but what SuperNTSC can do for your laserdiscs". I've mentioned SuperNTSC a few times, so i thought i share some SuperNTSC captures done with my SuperNTSC decoder: Faroudja CFD-SN (I've also figured out why, and how to correct, the aspect ratio of my pictures).

There's probably no reason to watch this movie on laserdisc, although i have heard that it is the only true theatrical release, the DVD and all later releases are altered somehow... this is the first SuperNTSC example: Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (1999) [PILF-2830]

Here's another LD/DVD comparison...

Disney's Sing Along Songs: Circle Of Life (1994)

Now, there's a huge difference between the LD and DVD editions. The 1994 LD and VHS is hosted by Jiminy Cricket, while the 2002 DVD has title cards and a male announcer reading them. Plus, on the DVD, five additional songs are placed between "Everybody Wants to Be a Cat" and "When You Wish Upon a Star": "Hakuna Matata", "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", "Yummy, Yummy, Yummy", "W-I-L-D", and "Jungle Rhythm".

And what's more, on the DVD, "Part of Your World" and "Everybody Wants to Be a Cat" has slightly updated text and timing for the lyrics, while all the others are the exact same as the original.

And the resolution for the Philips CD-i is 352x240.

There's also one thing in common: Side 1 of the LD ends after the Brisby kids tie Jeremy up. Same thing with Disc 1 of the CD-i edition.
