Does that player not come with an AC-3 output, freeze frame & other handy features?
Surely worth getting repaired if viable & there are a few guys who use the forum who may be able to help/advise.
Hope you get the player playing as it should again & good luck.

Yeah nothing too strong or you will melt it and then won't have any.
You may also need to look for a replacement or do the plasti dip, search it up and you will find info about it.
Thx ldfan
On another note, I've cleaned heads with Vodka, that's what I've read, this is not a head but the grip, you could try that too. For my tape deck the vodka was perfect and it worked great.
But you do all these repairs at your own risk. |

| And BTW.... I would never get rid of a 704 unless it was absolutely trashed. They are always worth fixing since they were the high end player in their day (approx MSRP of $1,400 to $1,500). |

Since it cannot play a CD you do not have grip ring issues. If it played CD's but had issues with LD's then the grip ring is a definite culprit.
As ldfan stated this machine should not be thrown away. People like me would buy these for parts or to refurbish. If you want a LD player this would be worth looking into getting fixed. |
