That’s nothing at all like my situation. There isn’t one chemistry for me and one for you, there’s just Chemistry. If Windex doesn’t melt LDs at my house it won’t melt LDs at yours.
I took it to a different level. I use isopropyl ETOH...... and never had an issue. Some help with gummy edge leaking over on platter surfaces. Never had an issue with fogging or blemishing with ETOH however still recommend testing first before going hole hog. ETOH may have an X factor interaction with previously used cleaners.
Zeta, big fan of windex. Never did steer me wrong.......
Cheers mates ! |

I like to revisit this thread also.
Still tickles me that I had Alice Cooper sign my TANK GIRL domestic LD cover. See my post on page one of this thread. True story .

Hi there, If all goes nominally, the dealer will send you an invoice with shipping included. Every dealer has their method, however you have already done your part and initiated the sale.
Just sit back, in a reasonable amount of time you will receive an invoice or instructions on how dealer wishes you to proceed. If dealer does not make contact, alert the site administrator to intervene and perhaps cancel the sale if warranted.
Hope this helps some.....

Just purchased Scott Hicks film SNOW FALLING ON CEDARS. Based on the novel by David Guterson. One rare late PILF series gems.
Max Von Sydow, Ethan Hawke, James Reborn, James Cromwell, Richard Jenkins, and many others.
One of my favourite Scott Hicks films. Another fav Scott Hicks film is Hearts in Atlantis starring Anton Yelchin and Anthony Hopkins.... check it out people, epic movie....
Cheers and Happy New Year to the membership..... |

I have often wondered the same query.
Picture peeps standing on LD's in driveways on loose gravel ! Throwing them like Frisbees at a Frisbee golf range ! Or just plan old abusing them by letting young children throw them around the house lmao !
Funny, some of my worst beat up domestic Godzilla LD's i bought used still play and sound nominally ! Beyond all hope, could not believe that fact !
Treat 'em nice mates ! Long Live LaserDisc !

With value of niche hobbies being nearly 100% subjective, can we omit the disparaging comments out of having manners and respect for other members here ?
I mean, I would not pay doodly squat for much that is auctioned at a Sotheby's or like auction that go for millions.
Will not even mention my marble collection for peeps to crap on the amount of money spent on things I love and others could not give a rip about !
Com-on man !
Don't type unkind things even if true for YOU ! (I AM NOT REFERRING TO ZETA's POST)

With value of niche hobbies being nearly 100% subjective, can we omit the disparaging comments out of having manners and respect for other members here ? My contempt for speculative investors, both wannabe and real, overrides any of that. My thoughts exactly. Speculative investment isn't a niche hobby; it's parasitism of niche hobbies.
Why so serious ? Why bring contempt to the forum ? Why so hostile to suggested preservation of a modicum of decorum here at the LDDB Forum ?
Whatever axe you need to grind, look deep, what we dislike overtly, we frequently find in ourselves.
Pushback about suggesting we have some respectful manners ? Wow ?
One of the cultural origins of rudimentary manners goes back to eating peacefully with others so that the threat of being killed while dining was ameliorated.....
Whats the real beef here ? Why the angst ? Enlighten me please.

Yes, a soft micro Fibre cloth or old cotton t shirt wipes the blemishes away in my experience. No worries, mostly dust patterns noted from long storage.

And then there is a chance it would play just fine. Have seen similar discoloration ld's have nominal playback in my collection.
Only one way to find out if a corrupted platter..... someone must SPIN IT UP ! ! !

Blue Bird, The (1976) [TLL 2072] This is obscure in my opinion. Cannot speak for Japan back in the day, however since zero hour of the format, in this part of the world this title is RARE. Japan only release. Elizabeth Taylor and European cast brought back this original Shirley Temple classic to life.
Check it out ...

An aside - Scored a may 2002 DVL-919 on flea-bay.... decent price, a best offer counter. Delivery was successful - unit powered up and spun up nominally....... |

Agreed, no need to go crazy, however nicely insulated RCA cables are prime. No need to go heavy on price....
Hate to be that guy !
If any still utilize old style speakers take note if not already known : Any THICK stock cable is cheap and highly effective imo !
Made a purchase of 1/4 " cables years ago and never looked back. Analog never sounded so sweet and the depth to background sounds are prime.

Mine is "Balance of Terror" .... Do not even recall the episode on the flip side. Felt the hatred and war with the Romulan Empire was well spelled out. The mysterious plasma energy raiding of nearby neutral zone settlements spiced up the suspense....
The whole episode is a standout for me being an avid trekkie. The mutual respect among the two adversaries brings me to watch it repeatedly from time to time. Never has gotten old......

Viewed TENET for another experience in null entropy retro genre. Nolan created a masterpiece with an all star cast to deliver the plot. Denzel Washington has to be proud of his sons role as main protagonist.........
Anticipated Nolans next project to drop this month so went ahead and viewed TENET again.

Watched a rom/com with my girlfriend, "Blast from the Past"..... (again...) Felt motivated to review being that we are living at def con V.
Like this fun movie. Not a Walkin fan however really enjoyed his role in this one. My take - Clever, original, and actually humorous.
This one led me to share Dr. STRANGLOVE next !

Fun stuff ! I also separate by U.S. domestic and Japanese titles. Yup, I keep them apart.
And, as well, keep titles for sale separate from private collection for the most part.
Doing a serious inventory of entire collection in 2024 if all goes as planned, and hopefully FLYING TERRAPIN store will be reopened for business as my new home construction is half-way completed !
