Ensure your RCA cables are of a decent standard, 75ohm with shielding etc and less important your HDMi cable is not some $1NZD job. Easy simple way to squeeze abit more of the picture. |

A decent minimal standard, yes. Your composite cable should be at least as good as the free one Pioneer gave you. Beyond that though I’d save the money for a better broken DVD recorder, a JVC with HDMI out. The one I have will make a LDV2200 look like a CLD-99…to the untrained eye, anyway. It really is that transformative. |

Great. Thank you for the information. I'll keep my eyes out for the JVC.
Hello again. Found a JVC MV150 on eBay $115.00 Do you know if this is a good buy. Good filter? ThAnk you!
I think that’s the one I have, I’ll have to check. If it is I recommend it highly. I’ve looked it up before and posted it here before but I can’t find squat in a search. If you’re better maybe you can.
If you can get a deal on one because the VCR or DVD sections are broke, do it. They are just going to break anyway and you only want the pass-through.
I watched maybe 50 VHS tapes on mine before it started to refuse to load them. The DVD side still works, I think.
EDIT: I found my old post and according to it mine is the JVC DR-MV150B. |

There are already some great topics on this subject, you can search in the upper corner.
Always make sure there is plastic inside the paper.
Good news is that LDs don't matter value wise when using stuff like acid free so you are free to use whatever you can find. Search up LP inner sleeves, I have when possible been using the antistatic elephant condom styles, I've just dealt with the issues they have and take my time. These are U shaped and sometimes come from Japan, they are all plastic but sometimes called ricepaper.
You can find paper with lined sleeves and those are great but really best for USA discs, but these tend to tear on the edges as plastic is in a U shape from front to back with nothing on the sides. |

This unit applies DNR, color boosting, and overall stabilization, and of course puts out 480p over HDMI which is also great. When I say it will make a LDV2200 look like a CLD-99 I was only exaggerating slightly. It was mainly made to work with VHS and television so it’s a serious first aid sorta of device. It doesn’t have to work as hard to clean up LD. :) |

Quick Update: The Kramer VP-730 arrived yesterday. It was very easy to hook up and get it up and running. First impression is that there is a very noticeable improvement in color and clarity. It didn't come with a remote, but I was able to easily access the remote functions through my universal remote. I'm using a logitec Harmony remote - very surprised that it had no problem connecting at all. There are a few things in my set up I want to play around with and I have a lot to learn about the settings, etc. It cost me around $60.00 on ebay + shipping. So far it was worth every penny.
1st set up question: What is the recommended picture resolution setting?
Kramer is brutal at scaling so ideally you would want to output 480i/p and let something better do the scaling, here are upscaling test pattern for Kramer vs Onkyo vs MadVR -
