A) Never ever use a “cleaning disc.” In anything.

B) The issue isn’t the lens being dirty.

C) Yes, LDs can be cleaned exactly like CDs and DVDs. If you don’t see stuff on the disc though, it isn’t dirty.

LDs get warped, get overheated, rot, etc. If the player plays two out of three movies I’d suspect the movie that didn’t play.

Your second disc likely has "laser rot". You can look up the title of the disc in our database and it will tell you if it has a history of rotting.

If an LD gets frozen in the winter and cooked in the summer, yeah, that can be bad.

Couldn't find the list of discs known for laser rot but remember I'm new to this site. That second movie is Starman. Is that one of the ones known to get that defect?

.... it appears to be a known rotter. It would make sense since it was pressed by DADC.
