Art of Noise: In Visible Silence (1986) [080 382-1] https://www.discogs.com/release/558583-The-Art-Of-Noise-In-Visible-Silence
This was the bands only video release until a very different concert released in 2003 on DVD. What makes this release special - other than the introduction by Max Headroom - is that it was only released in VHS and LD. To the best of my knowledge, it does not exist digitally, other than a VHS fan capture.
The worst part? The disc is susceptible to laser rot. My copy is heavily rotted on the outer edge of the disc, the last few tracks are either extremely grainy and have scratchy audio or have no audio whatsoever. |

Someone digitized the VHS version and uploaded it to youtube, but it's very poor quality and there's frame skipping all over the place. An LD capture exists, it's from rutracker and it is pretty blurry but nevertheless higher quality than the youtube version.
I own the disc but the last few tracks are no longer playable. Eventually I want to grab a mint copy and some recording gear and capture it, at least make a lossless capture of the digital audio track. The few playable chapters on my CLD-2950 show much higher image quality than the captures I've seen. |

Do you know of any reliable vendors for this part?
hi, got exactly the same issue here, but no output at all from the laser. i've just ordered a replacement from this website , it's in singapore but unfortunately the only place i could find anything in stock. whether or not it really is in stock is a different matter entirely, but i will report back once i receive it, or if my order gets cancelled.
Just want to mention that I ordered some LD player parts from that site a few weeks ago, and got the parts as ordered. |

It is incredible to see how extreme gear you needed to record video in higher than VHS definition. We've come such a long way. |

The icons on the main site got me stumped for a while until I bothered to look up the FAQ sections, since it is not immediately obvious what they are there for. A very simple solution for this would be including title="" HTML tags on them, with an appropriate description. If you hover over an icon for a second, the text inside the title tag shows up. This is a native browser function and won't need ugly javascript popups (and if you want it's possible to hook up javascript popups into it), the only downside is that the generated page size is slightly larger.
So for example, the P icon could be changed from: <img border="0" src="https://www.lddb.com/images/icon/p.gif">
to: <img border="0" src="https://www.lddb.com/images/icon/p.gif" title="Front cover available">
resulting in the following: https://forum.lddb.com/download/file.php?mode=view&id=5633&sid=c9987258347cc2801a16e244b4bff882
It's a small detail but can be very helpful. For example the forum already uses them on the PM and Profile icons, underneath each post. |
