Some weirdo from Georgia or China sent me a Tom Selleck DVD instead of the laserdisc of another movie that isn't a Tom Selleck movie. So not only is it the wrong movie that I have 0 interest in. It's the wrong video format. I just spent a half an hour printing and taping up the small plastic bag that the dvd came in because the printing label that Ebay gave me was clearly way too small so I had to resize it and then it was a bit too big for the tiny plastic bag. I made it work still. I just made sure not put tape on the printing label. I had to carefully do it.

The biggest headache other than spending time repacking the little tiny plastic bag with tape I had to cut with scissors is the item is only 9 bucks and for some weird reason they wanted me to drop it at some USPS drop off box which is ridiculous because I'm not wasting gas. Instead I put it in my mail box and put the flag out so the Mail man knows to pick it up. If he doesn't pick it up I'm just calling the credit card company and reporting this stupidity since in the past when I've had issues with bad companies my Credit Card company fixes it almost immediately. An example one time is when I had an issue with Steam where they were refusing to refund a video game I had purchase when I found out the creator of said game lied about what was going to be in the game. Steam was trying to hold onto the 30 dollars but Credit Card reimbursed me anyways.

I'm not even sure if this is really from Georgia or if it's really a Chinese seller. Since it was coming by DHL which is strange for something that wasn't even a laserdisc when I ordered a laserdisc. Anyways nice headache from Ebay and definitely will slow down possible future purchases from their so called wonderful website. I know Amazon would have most likely refunded me immediately and not tell me I have to wait 7 days after the seller receives the package that they sent the wrong movie and format all for 9 bucks. Obviously Amazon doesn't really sell laserdiscs. I think some titles on Amazon say laserdisc but I don't know if they actually are laserdiscs or not because I didn't even try to buy supposed laserdiscs off Amazon. The selection for most items are limited on Amazon sadly since Amazon seems like a better Company than Ebay.

I feel like the seller was trying to pull some weird scam. Since who in the rightful mind would pay 9 dollars for a Tom Selleck movie? Sure 9 bucks isn't a lot but I'm not going to let people scam me and even if it was a mistake by the seller Ebay could have just refunded immediately. They can tell from all my purchase History that they have never had problems with me with around 250 or 300 purchases.

What pictures were posted to described the item?

No real pictures => don't buy
Real pictures that don't match what you received => easy negotiation

Sometimes when you’re buying worthless junk from nobodies you get the wrong junk from the wrong nobody and sometimes it’s not even worth fixing the mixup. This is why garage sales are good. When you’re right in front of the worthless junk you can determine if you want it or not. eBay purchases below $10 are basically like having a proxy at a garage sale somewhere mailing you stuff they can’t even identify.

This is why I try to buy from people who are actually in the scene. I could get a much better deal than I get from Rein-O but I get zero BS from him every time so that’s where I go. Same with G&J, the Admin, and other quality LDDB sellers. My time is more valuable than my money.

Get your email hooked up to your phone and use the QR code to get a return label.
Good luck, depending on seller you get what you pay for, take the risk on a cheap price or return it with these power sellers who have 100K feedback a day.

They don't call it Evilbay for nothing. A Hive of dumb and incivility. Expect the worst and have low expectations about everyone on there. I learned that by about 1998 and because it has a virtual monopoly on things like Laserdiscs (yeah I know there are sellers here, but the last two I contacted didn't even bother replying to me, because, I suspect, they primarily sell their stuff through ebay) your only option is to deal with it and take it in the a** like everyone else. When you have a billion customers, the individual customer matters: 0. You'll find that out when you have over 1000 positive feedback, some buyer makes up a story about what they received and your whol account is suspended indefinitely. Happened to me more than once, but I factor it in to dealing with evil. Also fee creep, starting to get ridiculous, which is half the reason prices are so high on ebay, the other reason is being able to list indefinitely for free so you get speculators who just sit on stuff and hope for a sucker. People who know the value are SOL. I tried putting all my crap on ETSY once when I got completely fed up with the evil, but for what I sell, nothing sells there. Nobody looks for my stuff on ETSY because it's easier to just use ebay for most people, and ebay knows that. ebay and a lot of other modern monopolies (namely Blackrock) should be mandatorily broken up at this point like the media was in the US in the 30s because monopolies are destroying competition and people are getting screwed more and more. And no, I ain't no Commie, these monopolies haven't been created by a true free market, they've been created through lobby groups, vested interests and government protection.

If you check the tracking, you will be able to tell where the origin scan on the package was.

The fees really are insane now. It is unfortunately the only place I can really sell dvds and blu rays I don't want anymore if I want to get much of anything back out of them.

I try to not buy there much at all now. Only if I have to.

Yeah and now they have removed Amex as a payment option starting in the middle of next month.
Stuff just sits now and doesn't move as fast as it used to.

To not lose money selling things at a low price point you actually have to like…plan every single step of the process. There is no “Oh, I don’t need this anymore, I’ll put it on eBay for $10.” If you accidentally spend $0.50 too much on the envelope you’re in the red on sales that small.

It blows my mind how bad eBay is for common sellers now. I have stuff around the house that I would be glad to sell but it’s a money losing pain in the neck so it just sits there. If it’s not worth $300 minimum it simply isn’t worth the risk and if it is worth $300 you’ll have to charge $475 to actually get it.

Oooh. Both sides might feel that a bit.

I've definitely noticed some weirdness with eBay lately. The view count the last several years has been a bit off to me. I recently sold an extremely popular vintage game (3-4 sales a day). It had been up for 6 days and had 0 views when it sold. I find that very hard to believe, plus someone would have had to view it to use the send offer feature.

Small sales are simply not worth it at all on eBay anymore. My first step with anything is to see if anyone I know would want it (for cheaper than what it's worth) and for anything $25 shipped or less I am not taking the time to sell and ship it individually on eBay.

yeah, same here. Some weridness. I have over 100 items up and sold one big sale 3 weeks ago and zero, nothing since then. My views/watchers have dropped way lower than before too. Before the big sale I was selling at least one thing a week.

I feel like I'm about to be hit with some evil, the American guy who bought almost $500 worth of DVDs from me 3 weeks ago has left his package at his post office for 10 days according the tracking. I suspect he's going to try to pull something, open a case and use the "buyer is always right" philsophy of ebay who now rely on AI to review cases and won't even flag that he hasn't bothered to pick up his s**t. ebay is already notifying me with a big evil warning: "package hasn't arrived and is overdue!" like I've done anything wrong.

I had a similar attempt with a Brazilian buyer a month ago and I had to go through a million hoops to actually get on the phone with a person to get him to look at the tracking information saying the item was with customs before ebay automatically refunded the lying buyer. I had to follow up again after that to actually get them to decline his case. So much stress and time. The worst is the ebay reps and their endless scripts "thank you for being with ebay blah blah blah". I'm like yeah yeah, 5th time I've heard that script this week. Shut the f up and let's fix your mistake affecting "your loyal customer" (who actually has no choice but to be your customer) FFS.

Damn we've created such a dumb world. It's only getting dumber.

That's definitely very suspicious. I know when I've got a package and especially one where I paid that kind of money I'd be doing everything I could to make sure I get it. Hell recently Fedex was struggling to deliver to me (delivering to my neighbor or not at all) and their customer service is useless plus you can't actually get the local number for any fedex place so I had to drive to where their trucks go out of to get it sorted. It should be fine going forward now, I talked with the (newer) driver on this last one (I had sig confirmation put on it) and he now knows the address. Of course how he didn't before is beyond me since it is all very clearly marked. Fedex is the cheapest and fastest option from Japan for me at this point so this was important for me to get sorted.

I block all other countries selling on eBay at this point because I do not have time for this BS. Sounds harsh but it just adds another layer when you are shipping overseas. Now for here or on a forum where you can or even have to talk to your buyer I have no problem with it. Talking to people humanizes the other for both sides and really cuts back on the bs. I've not had a single issue shipping internationally OFF eBay and I've done it many times. eBay was mostly good as well the few times I used their program but when I found out they CRAPPILY REPACKAGE things I stopped that immediately. I think the last thing I did sell internationally on eBay was a multi-format VCR. I unblocked the buyers location after they messaged me and we talked back and forth a little. I did not use the shipping program. Made it safely to the UK, buyer was thrilled.

I hope you have a happy ending here but what you are saying does not bode well.

Good news for me and weird timing. Tracking finally updated to delivered today! I messaged him just to check he was happy with everything. He got straight back and he was just back from a vacation, picked up his package and is very happy with what he got he says. I was wrong and he was a good dude, because so many things do go wrong with the systems we have in place for a lot of stuff now I tend to catastrophise because it's actually really surprising when something actually goes smoothly. Yeah usually anglosphere buyers are the most trustworthy but you're right it's always ideal to communicate first and build at least some trust.

Don't blame you for only selling in the US. It's interesting on ebay I've been ripped off by Germans, Japanese, South Americans multiple times over the years. Once by an American and never by a Chinese or Australian seller. Australian sellers can be idiots and pack things like retards and argue like morons but they're never trying to scam you. Probably because they're too dumb/rich to know how to or be bothered.

I've banned South America from my sales because the two times things have gone really wrong in the last year it was from South Americans and the only two South Americans I sent to. I had to go to small claims court in my jurisdiction to get back the money ebay sucked out of my bank account to refund a lying Brazillian.

You have me a little worried about the Terminator LD I have on the way to me from a US seller. Global shipping program, hope they don't f up the packaging...

Anyways...
