So I ordered Nasty Ladies which was sent Media Mail. The tracking is really weird it is not a straight shot anymore but has to go back and forth between one of regional distribution centers instead of the one that goes directly to my local one and on to me. The center that it just has to go to no matter what is in DC which makes no sense unless they screwed up the postal service more than they have been.

I'd be wary to ever use media mail or even the mail system in general if it goes back and forth from one a certain facility that it doesn't need to go to in the first place.

USPS in general is a total mess right now, doesn't have to do with services so much as the closure of multiple sorting facilities years ago and some other crap not worth getting into. Things will generally take the same trajectory from an area unless there is a mistake. Similar to what you are describing with DC, everything here has to go to KC since they closed the sorting facility in Topeka. So if I was getting something from close by it would have to go out of its way first due to the "logistics".

I just got a media mail package in 4 days from Ohio and I've had priority packages get lost and take forever recently. If I am sending or receiving anything important I ask for UPS now or ask for signature confirmation with USPS (which usually leads to UPS because signature confirmation really jacks up the price).

what's weird it went to the right place on 18 in VA [that would sort it out before it gets to my local one] then back to DC. so maybe they are making mistakes but multiple times in one delivery to DC is quite annoying and just sitting there for 2 days now suppose to be delivered tomorrow but I doubt that. Even if the pandemic never happen this would eventually happen. It needs an overhaul something no one seems to really care about in Congress.

Seems like a fluke or comedy of errors.
Media Class route has been rock solid in my experience all through the pandemic.
No interruption in transit that i recall ever really.
Just a temporary glitch for you i hope....

Let us know if Kaos continues in your locale....

Cheers to the membership !

it arrived fine with no damage so maybe it was a fluke. I can't do any more at the moment but hope to buy some when I can and hopefully it won't happen again. I have gotten other things but they never went to DC just this one did.

I recently had a package not media mail that went from NJ to PA to Wilmington DE back to Philly PA then back to Wilmington then to me an hr away.

This was about 6 months ago, was crazy but only one I had.

My wife had a package about a year ago that got stuck in NJ and has never left.

I've seen some weird bouncing around happen occasionally over the last couple of months regardless of (Media, First Class Letter, First Class Package, Priority). They've led to a day or two delay to the "scheduled" delivery date, but nothing out of the ordinary for the last year and a half.
