Hello everyone,
I will post this into the general discussions category. Apologies in advance if this is not the correct forum category.
I don't know if this has been asked before, but does anybody know the HS/Tariff code or TARIC code for a Laserdisc? Similar question, but for a laserdisc player: what code should I use if I want to import a disc or a player from outside the EU?
Since the implementation of EAD (Electronic Advance Data), it has become very difficult for us in Ireland (and within the EU)to have parcels coming from outside the EU delivered to us. Here in Ireland, and if the EAD is missing or assessed as incomplete, the local post operator (An Post) won't care and will automatically return the parcels to their senders, without notice.
Situation is a bit less tense in France, as the national post operator seems to be a little more lenient and contacts the recipient directly if they have any doubts regarding the item's declaration / value or origin.
Thanks,
Marco

Thanks Teddanson for you reply, it is much appreciated. I noticed that Japan Post has set up a guide on their site recently (!), on how to properly prepare the EAD when sending goods to Ireland. (and not the UE, Ireland alone.) This is unprecedented, I believe. What a mess. https://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/use/ireland_en.htmlMarco

This is unprecedented, I believe. What a mess. Marco I did receive the warning for Ireland, that most recent shipment without HS Codes would be rejected. This is what I've been using so far. Never had a problem/comment/return because of these: - 8523492 Laserdisc
- 8523414 CD
- 8523491 DVD
- 852410 LP Record
If someone has also made this analysis, I'd be happy to be get double-checked. Julien

If someone has also made this analysis, I'd be happy to be get double-checked. Julien Hello Julien, Thanks for your reply. Are you sure about the first three codes? They have 7 digits instead of 6. As for TARIC codes, those can have from 8 to 10 digits. Just to be sure, thanks - But I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that a HS code for an IE import would have 7 digits instead of 6. I will have the opportunity to test these very soon anyway. Again, thanks for your help. Marco
