Hi Rein-o, you were the one I was trying to contact. I did not know if you had a direct email or how to link to you off of this forum. This is why I posted on this forum, avsforum and bluray forum - in order to contact you. The money is quite inconsequential. The good news for everyone who has been affected by (cararte, ricardo tomas) is that the end result of the 122gbponds will be quite rewarding.

All my posts on lddb.com are my opinion. I also wish someone would start producing laserdisc players again. Like they have with records and turntables.

I am hoping someone would know if this is possible or not i.e to make laserdisc players. Or is it simply no longer practical.

estott1967 wrote: I am hoping someone would know if this is possible or not i.e to make laserdisc players. Or is it simply no longer practical. It would be very expensive - LaserDisc players require specialized parts and custom IC's, none of which are made anymore - it's one of the reasons Pioneer got out of the player biz. Disc production is even harder - a LaserDisc requires more care to make than a Blu-ray due to the large surface area of the disc. Even at the end, discs would routinely require 5 or more tries to get an acceptable master - you can read the disc mint marks and see how many mastering tries each side took for a particular title. I remember an Apocalypse Now pressing that took 72 attempts at mastering a side to get a master good enough to make discs from. It's not like making LP's - video and audio filters have to be precisely set or you get A/V interference, etc... The one "hope" for a new player would be for someone to choose an existing LaserDisc player and design new, low noise circuit boards using the existing IC's along with high quality 1% resistors and caps, adding a new high quality 3D comb filter, then build a new case around it. The LD-S2 or HLX-X0 would work, although I'd remove the MUSE circuits. Since red lasers are cheap now I'd try to find a way to replace the infrared laser with a red diode laser for better noise rejection. It would be a very expensive player and I don't know if it could be done. It's just wacky thinking on my part - actually, the original PR-7820 might be a good player to mod. The tracking method of moving the disc and not the laser is pretty much the optimum method. I'd build a professional TBC into it too and not one of the 2-line or field based ones used in all LaserDisc players with digital TBC. Again, just thinking on my part - the player would probably cost $10,000 to build since you'd need many different people to work on it. It would NOT be auto-reverse since that would add to the cost. A tube-based audio output stage would be nice too for the digital section and you could bypass it for analog discs with a high quality relay. I can dream...

ban his ip and EUI-48 hopefully he can't or does not know how change them Ya, I was reading about him on here the other day, I'd say ban him from selling and buying. IDK about the forums. I betting if he is band from buying and selling he will try to make a new account or go crazy in the forums.

I purchased a laserdisc player off Duncan. The great difference with Duncan is everything went easily, no problems, everything is true and correct, easy to deal with, good communication. Happy to buy more.

Most newer cable isp's (that I know off) set a 6 months to one year leas given by the DHCP server. (if you keep your EUI-48) Now older DSL networks (like at&t) lease a new IP every time a device connects even if it has the same EUI-48. But even still you can trace where the IP is coming form. And if he is keeping the same EUI-48, well just block it. OH YA, I'm a net+ certified technician EDIT ISP's can see when a user changes their EUI-48 (what is known as a mac address by most), along with their IP. Given their ISP the Admin may be able to contact them and tell them what is happening. If your lucky they may block his accesses to this site. But I doubt it.
