I probably should have checked around before sending my player to him, but it didn't seem like I had much choice.

I sent him a player at the beginning of December and he said it would take 6 weeks due to a back log. I understood as I was in no rush. 6 weeks later I asked if everything was good and he said he still hadn't gotten around to my player since a lot of the repairs he had were difficult. I told him that's fine. I contacted him about a month later and he said he still hadn't gotten around to my player and I asked him when I should contact him again. He said about 2 week. I contacted him 2 weeks later and have since received no response. It's been about a month with no response. Kind of disheartening because I wanted to use the player for an event that was going to happen in a month or so.

It sounds like shipping the players is the big thing holding everything back. He wouldn't respond to inquiries related to shipping, but as soon as I suggested a pickup, he was all for it and responded promptly.

Well I mean I would go there if I could, but I don't feel like driving almost a thousand miles for something that should be shipped :P I wonder if there is anyone local there that could pick up a bunch of them lol.

KEEP ALL PAPERWORK AND EMAILS.
Duncan/laserdiscservice is a con artist and a thief.
I made the mistake of not keeping all of the emails and paperwork.

Watch out and keep an eye out for Duncan, I think he is worse than the boogieman

He really, really should've said "I'm going to be busy for at least six weeks." rather than say "sure, send me another player to toss on the queue!"

What sort of player is it?

ld-s2, I was going to use it for communicating with an laserdisc capable MSX to play laserdisc games as it was one of the last players to support that kind of connection (and actually be good).

Huh, I didn't think the S2 had that control port (the S1 did)...

If an adapter exists to connect it to the DB-15 port used on later players, you could use a V2800 or V5000, which are based on last-generation CLD tech and much easier to service than an S2 - but they're definitely not as good. Unfortunately I don't think there's anyone active who can service an S2, krbahr is moving and grasshopper doesn't work on them.

The s1's I have all owned has a control port for Pioneer LD-Rom addons. I never seen this port on a s2 externally.. Who gave him this info?? WtF Something isn't adding up here happycube? Huh?

Sorry I mistyped, it was indeed ld-s1

Here was my problem:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIUlztCGl-s

It would basically do nothing and just make a clicky sound. He told me he saw this problem before, it was power supply related. I would have fixed it myself, but I took one look inside of that laserdisc player and laughed as there was way too much stuff in it.

Still no response. I wonder if the problem is indeed shipping them back.

The real problem is Duncan himself.
The real problem is that he keeps taking on repairs that he can't get done.

you should remove the wood side-panels before shipping or otherwise putting the player into circumstances beyond your immediate control,
especially if those panels are in good shape.

also, if there is any way to pop the front panel control compartment door free without damaging the hinges, that should also be done...

Well it looks like he is indeed ignoring my emails, but I've had a few friends email him and he is still taking new orders.

I'm still waiting on an S2 I paid him in full for..was finished with it and never shipped it. Have all my emailes documenting everything. Was extremely understanding and patient and then after it all he just disappeared. I just wish he would ship the player..

I am also waiting on a LDS2 and my LDD-1 but unfortunately I don't have the emails. I might be able to look in paypal but it has been so long ago...I'm probably screwed.

I don't understand why nobody has reported this to the police yet?
Does it cost money to report fraud to the police in the U.S.?

I guess the police would close the case very quickly. Not something worth using time and resources investigating. If the US police is something like the police we have in Norway.

I´d get a lawyer sending him an invitation to send the player, otherwise threating him with legal consequences. This whole case sucks, I really wonder why no one is taken actions here.

By the looks of it, I doubt pulling in a lawyer would do anything. At least my personal experience with similar issues. Guess the only thing that would work is to personally visit the guy and fetch the missing player (if it still is there).
