Just noticed that Duncan's website, laserdiscservice.com, has a GoDaddy page in it's place. At least nobody else will stumble across it and lose their money and player, as he was still taking in players well after everything was documented here.

How about this new gem of a review for Bayview that just went up a few months ago on Yelp:

I had a pretty poor experience with this place a few years ago that recently came to a head. I sent off a Pioneer 504 for repair for around $200. When it came back it worked at first but then stopped shortly after. I kept it in storage for a few years and recently took it out and had it evaluated again. The reason it wasn't working is that Bayview wired it together circumventing the fuse and it had caused an electrical fire inside the unit! I'm flabbergasted that a so called "expert" did this! Not only am I out the money I paid but also my player is ruined for good.

Probably the MOV fuse, which is a pretty normal bypass, but still... owie. (Although I'm not sure a 504's worth $200 to fix in any case)

Yeah, I saw his site was closed down I believe a few months ago but forgot to post.

Unfortunately the 200 is not worth the repair of a 504 but then again if you are desperate to get a player fixed price should not be an issue.

Does anyone even know if Duncan is still alive ?
A sad fall from grace to be sure .....
Did he have a health issue, mental breakdown, or just get fed up and snap on his clients / the membership ?

Speaking only for myself,......... just curious .....

Nothing yet, I know that he is on facebook as sandy hunter and have tried to contact him through there.
Player is not worth the extra money to pay a service to pick it up and ship it so I do hope one day he will send it back.

To my knowledge he is still alive but from what the detective posted hes not doing well.

Duncan’s old bayview electronics repair shop has been replaced with a Dunkin Donut already:)

If the dude is going to die soon you would think he would want to make amends or at least apologize for all of this....

It's a sad fall from grace. I remember being impressed at the certificate he had on his site from Pioneer for training in LD player service back in the days of DiscoVision players and discs. He should make good and return everything, but the fact that he was still accepting players for "service" right up until his site went down doesn't bode well.
