And after all that headache, I suspect the player has some kind of non-mechanical circuitry fault. One of these days I'd still like to haul the thing down and do a comparison between it and an S2 to see if the line issue is indeed the player, or if it's a problem with the LDs. To Ricardo's credit, he did send me a PM on AVS from one of his many accounts saying that he would be taking apart an X0 soon and he could send me a board from it. I didn't take him up on the offer because I'd rather not deal with him again. Besides, I still don't even know if it actually has a problem.

Just took a look at the feedback comments received by Ebay user laser_paradise:

'paid, but was confused. Too many names, too many email addresses'
'Took awhile to pay, but finally came through'
'Ignored every type of communication. Dead beat bidder! Stay away! Flaker'

Pretty much everything he was buying was sealed or mint too. This has got to be Cararte as it mirrors his pattern here.

No he told me the player got lost in the post and he is getting the money back from the insurance..... Well, I can't wait to see my money back, but so far he has not shown any proof about this story. So my hopes are low. Will update you when I hear (or hear not) from him again.

As long as I do not get my money back, I'll be sure to warn everybody every few weeks about him. But when I do I will also let you know.

Well let me give you an update about Ricardo Tomas.

He now tells me it got lost in the post and he is making a claim. And I have to wait till he gets the money.

Which ofcourse is b******t. If he can't deliver he should refund me my money right now. since I have nothing to do with the shipment or insurance. But I guess these are just more lies.

So please let everybody know not to go in business with this con artist.

reinbo - If I am following this correctly, you sent the player back to him because it arrived broken and he still held onto your money.
Why didn't you just open a paypal dispute at that point and get it resolved that way?
If cararte wants to spend an indefinite amount of time trying to get it fixed, then paypal would have insisted he issue a full refund to you very promptly.
You could have left cararte spannering at his laserdisc player if that is what he wants to do.
As it is he seems to be holding all the cards now as he has the player back and your money with no obligation to issue a refund given so much time has now elapsed.
Of course his reputation is in tatters and I doubt he will sell another high end laserdisc player ever again but he is probably still laughing all the way to the bank as he thinks up his next scam.

I opened a paypal dispute, but they closed it, because he told them I he was fixing it. Somehow Paypall did not want to re-open because I had bought it outside Ebay and now too much time has passed.

Yes he is laughing, but I will make sure everybody is warned about him. I'm ripped off and not much else I can do about it.

Amazingly cararte is still conducting business on this site as there was four positive feedbacks left for him by another seller just yesterday.
I guess that rubs salt into the wound knowing he is still out there but remaining silent.

He's been emailing me again wanting price quotes on players :evil:
I won't reply. And Ricardo, Maria, whoever; if you're reading this I don't ship to Portugal :thumbdown:
He's ruined it for his entire country :cry:
