looking at my collection, i have a lot of godzilla films but not all of them have godzilla in the title.

there should be a category for that, i don't know if it would be monster or godzilla or??
i think some would want to know about other monster films that my not be released by toho,
or some of their other horror/sci-fi films like matango etc that would carry over due to same
director or same SFX people.

The Japanese categorize them as "Tokusatsu" or "SFX".

SFX would be cool. I think I will watch my copy of Rodan tonight in its honor.

I thought kaiju was the term used for those films, doesn't it literally mean "giant monster?"

so i guess the catagory would be something like
kaiju/tokusatsu

there should be some type of category for these films on LDDB, there are lots of films that i am interested in but don't know the others by title. too many made.

No other genre has its own forum area, including anime, which I think is a bigger interest in the LD community than this type material. Just make a thread for it. Or if what you want is an addition to the "genre" selection list in LDDb listings, rather than an area of this forum, wouldn't you be better off putting this in "LDDb Feature Requests" rather than "New forum categories??

I think he means a catagory for discs cataloged on LDDB.com itself. I agree with his suggestion.

i guess i'll contact for feature requests, didn't know about it.
and yes i do mean a catogory for discs on LDDB itself.
if someone does a search for criterion you get all discs in that catagory.
why not with anime also and monster etc.
i made this topic due to the reason that i saw other topics that julien saw and upgraded or whatever.
thanks,

"Kaijû" (怪獣) means "strange beast", usually translated as "giant monster".
Actually, "daikaijû" (大怪獣) means "giant strange beast".

"Tokusatsu" (特撮) means "special effects".

In Japan, films about giant monsters are referred to as "kaijû eiga".
They are part of the larger genre of "tokusatsu eiga" (special effects films).
