so i was looking at the collection/catagory under submitting a disc.
there is nothing for silent films.

also this release from MGM is under the "Silent Classics" but not all silent films were released by MGM.

I am so glad that you mentioned the subject of silent movies, as I myself have an MGM box set of around 12 silent movies.

I shall second what you have written to ask if their could be allocated a category for this material.

I shall look forward to any replies to this, as I think this needs to be treated equally as any other movie.

i think what's hard in the search is that there is no silent option.
films will have a soundtrack but won't have dialog, or as the one that i just watched show people, it says the film is in english.
while it is in english there is no dialog so i don't really know how that works as the soundtrack is only music with some
sound effects added later??

anyway there are a bunch of catagories that i feel should be added, this just being another one for people to find and complete
a collection if desired

Indeed the silent movies will be hard to track.

I added a Category "Silent Movie" to test.
We will see if this works well or not in the long run.

Individual shops have an option to add silent films as one of their categories, as did we at G & J Rarities. It probably only makes sense for shops with quite a few silent editions, but nonetheless, it is there.

This is a great idea! It took me about 10 years to complete my Silent on Laserdisc collection. You can search under the various collections, (Killiam, Silent Classics, ect), or films released before 1930 but neither option is complete. I've tried to include as much information as I could in the notes section for other collectors, but a true "Silent Film" category would be wonderful. Benembe, what MGM box are you referring to?
