Hi all. I would love to see a straight forward VHS category. There's a DVHS one already, but would love to see the format I rented every Friday night as a kid get its own section on the main page.

I agree, I would love to see a category devoted to VHS.

Already discussed... and it's just too big a job:

Expand the database to encompass VHS
VHS movies archive?
VHS forum / database like this one ?
VHS

No, No, No, I absolutely agree with you. That is more than we should ask for. A forum for the discussion of VHS was all I had in mind. Granted, I only speak for myself. Therefore, let me clarify myself. I would love to see a forum where the discussion of VHS can take place.

I agree with both. I can understand how the VHS category could be split a 100 different ways, but a general VHS category to keep all that tape/machine goodness in one spot would be great.

It looked like in the links they were asking for a catalog system like the one here to keep track of their VHS tapes. This is just a request for a general category here in the forums would allow all questions about VHS movies, players and general awesomeness to be put under that one category.

No offense but this is like asking for a hd-dvd section in bluray.com. Vhs was lds nemesis. It just feels wrong for me.

You make me feel like a troll, but no offense was taken. I can see your point of view, and I understand that this site is dedicated to the laserdisc. To be honest, it never crossed my mind that a VHS forum here at LDDb might rock the boat. However, as I said I do understand. I am a member of a gaming website that features forums for both the PS4, and the Xbox One; but posting about one in the other is highly frowned upon. It makes sense to me, but only now that you bring the matter up.

I've got nothing against the idea of a VHS database but I really don't think it's any of LDDB's business. Considering all the work that has to be put into it, it would be much better with a dedicated site to the database rather than having it along with other format of its time. The ratio of LD and VHS would be bizarre if the VHS database would be completed (which I highly doubt it ever could).

This wasn't my intention, sorry about that. Vhs was the reason why ced,vhd and ld didn't become mainstream. Ld survived as a niche format where vhd and ced died prematurely due to success of vhs.

Not requesting a database.....just suggesting a sub forum to put all and any VHS questions and answers in. Categorized under the "Other Formats Featured on LDDb" where the CED, VHD, DVHS, HD DVD, dts CD, DVD-A and Super Audio CD sections are. I apologize for the confusion.

I can see it go either way, and I understand both points of view. Though VHS is a big enough subject it could have it's own database, plus if you include VHS will someone down the line want Betamax added as well? A VHS sub-category isn't a bad idea, but I think I'm okay with sticking it in the everything not related category.

I just searched through the "Everything Not Related" category, and saw that there were several VHS discussions already taking place. Sorry, I had not considered this. I mistakenly assumed that this category was for non-film discussions.
