Thanks- I'm new to the game, but I would really like to go all out on Blade Runner.

Bootlegs. Nothing officially released is all that complete. It’s all on the Internet Archive.

From a sound quality perspective the best version is the DSD/SACD.

I'm personally partial to Audio Fidelity's red vinyl release from 2013, but it was a limited edition so it'll be expensive now.

Yeah I really wish they released this and the soundtrack to Flash Gordon without any of the film dialog.

Also wish they did a Highlander soundtrack.

I have this. It’s very good. The DSD is massively cleaner though, obviously.

The fan versions are sometimes without movie dialogue but also sometimes with more of it.

I’m very partial to the official OST. The dialogue and such make it a Chill Out level masterpiece. When I was just a a young whippersnapper Syd Mead fan in the 80s there was no way to buy it. You could only get an orchestral cover version (of all things…) until the early 90s when it finally came out.

Soundtracks with movie dialogue mixed in were more common in the 60s/70s but were pretty much gone by the time Blade Runner’s OST was finally release so it was maybe not a popular choice but I’m a fan. I have most of Vangelis output during this period in one format or another, including the Cosmos soundtrack which is almost like an ambient DJ mix..so is the Blade Runner OST. The music of Vangelis works well for this.
