I think there's like maybe two or three titles that only offer the soundtrack proper in DTS. I know Blade's analog channels are a commentary and isolated score so it's impossible to watch without DTS equipment.

Funds are a bit limited at the moment, so choices have to be made, especially with LD decks costing more than they used to cost 5 or 6 years back.

odotb3 wrote: Some DTS titles have the movie soundtrack on the analog tracks. Check the database. Well most of them do, but yes, just check the database. Usually the analog track is probably just a standard dolby surround one. Some might have a commentary on one of the analog tracks so you're stuck watching the movie in mono.

I was actually unaware that a small number of DTS titles sacrificed the analog tracks for commentary and/or isolated score like the copy of Blade. I always thought the DTS producers were dead set on always providing a full movie soundtrack on the analog track to provide that backward compatibility for those without a DTS processor. I think I even recall them emphasizing that concept as a means to counter Dolby’s implementation of stealing the one analog track for AC-3 saying that it sucked that early adopters with “analog only” players couldn’t watch their movie in stereo. I guess they reneged on that promise when it came to Blade.
