They seem to be going quite fast. Yi Yi and Bright Summer Day were gone before I had a chance.

Between the time I put 4 in my cart and finalized the order, 3 were out of stock and back-ordered:

I can't at the moment since I'm in between jobs but I still need about 20 or so in my wishlist that I want to buy. I hate that Criterion does not have the listings for their LaserDisc release which they said they were working on so you add them to the list of Criterions that you currently own on DVD and BD.

All of Kubrick's seem to have disappeared; Lynch's too!

Ah well, I ordered the Tree of Life BD which was on my wish list.

Also subscribed to Criterion's mail list so hopefully I have some warning for the next flash sale. About time for another 'discs are dead' article, dont'cha think?

Barnes and noble does %50 off sale twice a year for the past 10 years now. Dates change but historically one in November- December and another sale in July- August. The sale lasts an entire month. So expect another %50 off sale from Barnes and Noble in July which will be active for a month. Barnes and Noble employees are nice enough and announce the exact date of the sale a month in advance on bluray.com. If you have a Barnes and Noble membership, you can save another %10 off on in store purchases.

Past 3 years, Criterion matched this %50 off on their website for a single day twice a year, usually 3-4 months prior to Barnes and Noble sale. They have in the past extended the sale to 2 days. Beside the %50 off and free shipping above $50, you can get a $50 giftcard for every $500 purchase, that’s another %10 off on large orders. Criterion does not announce the sales in advance. No way to know when but you know they have it twice a year and one around this time and another after summer. Criterion announces new titles on the 15th of each month.

And yeah discs are dead. Most of the new releases don’t get 4K versions anymore but only DVD and Blu-ray. Lack of new disc players is a good indication.

This is exactly the reason to stock up on DVDs.
There are more DVD players and 99.9% of people will want DVDs since they are older and that's what they are used to.

I just wish I had some contacts to get more rare DVDs made, all these smaller boutique companies like Vinegar Syndrome and the likes.
They are just making massive bank with all these limited editions.

Yes, I've bought from the B&N half off, they have great deals too.
Bought the Jacques Demy box set when it was half off.

I did get Brighter Summer Day on ebay new about 6 months ago for a few bucks more than the half off on the Cri site,
but it did include free shipping so I guess it was cheaper in the long run.

Good to know. I'll wait to get Police Story 1-2 at half off.

the one of the downsides to working there is that the employee discount won't work on the sale but then there is an employee appreciation week that happens twice a year. Also being in the cafe is pure hell and I couldn't take it anymore so I quit.
