Post subject:  Linking Criterion.com website releases?

Would it be interesting to add a link to LD movies who had a Criterion release on DVD or BD?

I'm not only considering Criterion LD releases who eventually got a DVD or BD release, but also other titles who never had a Criterion LD release but bot blessed with a DVD or BD release later.

Re-release example:
Silence of the Lambs, The: Special Edition #192 (1991) [CC1344L] to https://www.criterion.com/films/528-the-silence-of-the-lambs

New release example:
Brighter Summer Day, A (1991) [PILF-1910] to https://www.criterion.com/films/28596-a-brighter-summer-day

this sounds great. I do have a question is this limited to the US releases for the non Criterion films that have a later day Criterion release such as Brighter Summer Day?

It wouldn't be limited to a release, I'd use the IMDb # to flag that a movie (or documentary, or TV program) got a Criterion release.

Any release (US or not) would be eligible for the "released on Criterion DVD/BD".

We could even do that for 4K BD releases as well.
Everybody is dumping their Gremlins LD in Japan now that the 4K BD is out.

Done!

Example with existing Criterion LD: Silence of the Lambs, The: Special Edition #192 (1991) [CC1344L] or 39 Steps, The #3 (1935) [CC1103L]

Example with no Criterion LD: When We Were Kings (1996) [ID3978PG] or Dreams (Yume): Akira Kurosawa's (1990) [NJL-11911]

Added 400+ Criterion links based on IMDb, there are more to add but I'm getting dizzy copy/pasting!

It will show quickly which Criterion LD were re-released on DVD/BD:

https://www.lddb.com/list.php?format=ld&list=crit&max=250

Which CinemaDisc LD made it as well:

Most Kurosaza as well!

This one has a Criterion link:

June Night: Ingrid Bergman (1940) [LVD8904]

These are in the same box set, and should also have Criterion links:

Dollar: Ingrid Bergman (1938) [LVD9022]
Count of the Old Town, The (Munkbrogreven) (1935) [NALA-10002]
Intermezzo (1939) [8036-80]

Criterion link:

Thanks!

All added, thanks!

=> By movie, not by boxset - it's nice to get the cover art for each Criterion release

The US LD release of "Seconds - Special Edition" on LV066063-WS is a really good transfer & features a rather interesting commentary track with director John Frankenheimer.

Not sure if the commentary track featured on the LD is on the Criterion release, it was done especially for the LD release & John Frankenheimer mentions that during the commentary.

Great film, think I might spin the LD up this weekend.

Nothing at all, I just want them to last as long as possible :-)

Even though they never replied to my requests to have a quick email interview about their LaserDiscs years...
