How the Criterion Collection Crops Out African-American Directors

The prestigious line is coveted by cinephiles and taught in film schools. The company’s president blames his “blind spots” for largely shutting out Black Americans.

at least they have somewhat of a diverse collection. All I ever known unless I did so unknowingly is seen Spike's movies. I don't know why they choose the movies the day and want more of my favorites like Ozu but if I had the Channel I would watch more stuff to justify the cost of the platform. As it is I don't take much risks in viewing from the Catalogue because its expensive.

For those who haven't seen it, "A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night" is Criterion worthy IMO, one of the few Iranian films I've seen, and one of the better vampire movies of the 2010s (only beaten by "What We Do in the Shadows" which is not only my favorite vampire film but maybe one of my favorite films in general since its release).
