He's demonstrating a: Recordable Laserdisc CRV [LVM-3AA0]

Thank you for the early Xmas gift!

Cool.... always wanted to see one of these machines in action. As always, Techmoan was very entertaining to watch.

fascinating. He always makes this great tech seem so mundane in a way though.

Great video, when I saw the title I was hoping he'd somehow got ahold of one of the RLV recording devices, but sadly it's just a CRV.

One day someone will find one, I refuse to believe they're 100% gone.

Looks like an audio/video company is closing and there's a lot of pro hardware right now:

It's a nice piece of technology but my LVR-6000 & LVS-6000P has been packed away after one test. Yeah, they are working (at least the playback, haven't tried recording) but other than being curious about it once there is not much use for it unless you have some disc you desperately want to play.

What are the chances of trying to make a recording? Do you have an appropriate "blank" disc?

Slim to none. I would need to set up everything again and I don't want to sacrifice the blank disc I have. Likely it would also be possible to record something at the end of the already recorded disc I have but still a ton of work and for what?

Sorry if I missed it but what have you got recorded on your recorded disc?

Maybe you could try putting some new content on your blank disc (like "Dune 2") downscaled from the 4K disc and then make a custom cover and put it on evilBay for $1,000,000? "DUNE 2: 1 of 1 LD". But lemme guess, I'm a dumb guy and don't read much (like the rest of this thread) but I'm guessing the recordable discs only play back on the recorder right? Not any LD player?

It is incredible to see how extreme gear you needed to record video in higher than VHS definition. We've come such a long way.
