I'm getting ready to take delivery of two more MUSE decoders, but one is a Victor HV-VMD1, which is an earlier model with some serious feature limitations, & the other is a Sony MSC-3000, which is supposed to be very similar in performance to the 4000 model. This will bring my total to 4, assuming they actually work, which is a hazard of buying things from Yahoo auctions.

For those who like animation, it is a little gem. It is like floating. But you do need to calibrate your expectations, this is not a typical anime.

If you've seen the version on YouTube, the Muse version is like you are watching an entirely different animation. The YouTube version is visually flat and cartoony where as the Muse is full of depth, subtle gradients and liquid animation. In particular, on the Muse, the scene with the fish jumping out of the black water is equal parts mystical and momentarily terrifying. You feel the immensity of them. The best way I can describe the difference is on YouTube you notice the fish themselves, where as on the Muse, you primarily perceive their effects on the water and the fish themselves are massive ghostly apparitions within the spray.

It was my first Muse disc and still ranks right up there in TV viewing experiences.

As for the MSC-4000, yes, it is truly greenish biased.

In our setup, the MSC-4000 image doesn't appear to have the green tinge. I was waiting for it given all the comments regarding the skewing green..but was so happy went it didn't appear.

My take on this, after playing with various MUSE decoders, and having control of the video scaler, seems to be that the RGB output has a green "overscan" small side portion that you're not supposed to see. Green being the sync color for RGB signals.

Could it be that some displays blend some of this strong green section in the rest of the picture, bringing a green-ish tint on screen?

I'll need to test that again.

Just for your info. I suspect the MSC-4000 plays particularly well with our SONY CRT (1000line TV with native a RGBHV in).

There are always inbuilt assumptions baked into both a media format and the equipment it was designed for. I suspect the alignment between those may be contributing.

P.S.... would love to see MUSE playing on a Sony HDM3830 in person.
