I picked this up in a lot recently. I can barely find any information on it at all. From what I gather it is data related to the medical industry...information on prescription drugs and what not. It is dated 1984-1985 and I can't find any mint marks on it.

I submitted it to the database and would like to know how one could even access the data on something like this. :? Probably takes more equipment than what the average LD fan has lying around I'm guessing.

Here are some thumbnails:

EDIT - Added "quick and dirty" video. I don't have my capture system setup right now so it is just a crappy video from my camera.

Interesting! What does it do when you play it? I figure it's probably a regular Laserdisc with PCM data encoded in the video track. From what I can tell they switched to CD-ROM not long after this...

edit: Found a tad more on Laserdata in a book on Google - it holds 800MB/side, not bad. It used a V1000 and an external PCM decoding box, aparently.

edit2: If I had the specs for the encoding format (especially data correction!) and a disc with something I wanted to decode, I could definitely decode it.

It appears one side is blank. An hour pcm data is roughly 500mb. It would be significant data for the era.

The first few seconds are a sequence of colored patterns then it just goes into white and black data-ish noise. I will work on getting a video of that tonight if it will help.

Just what I thought, then... it should be possible to decode them with a lossless (HuffYUV or like) capture, and probably the specs if they still exist.

Not something I'm really up for doing, but it's an interesting exercise for somebody, I imagine...

Yikes. Not something I'm really up for myself either. Got a few hundred other titles to watch first. Now, if it were something cold-war-esque that would be a little more interesting.
