CED was only a USA market system, i think that's one of the reasons that it died off.
oh, i think they had a few in the UK also?? but very few.

There is a thread in the laserdisc section of this forum that has a beautiful list of all the different editions and what not out there that are on LD. How about CED? Anything worth it? There was recently a lot of a couple of hundred CED disks on ebay UK, I'm assuming they were all different - didn't bid since it isn't really an interest of mine. |

CEDs were marketed both in USA and UK, with UK titles numbering above 200 total. US market had over 1700. There's about 100 or so CEDs released in the USA that are not on LD, and those would be the ones of particular interest to any LD collector, I'd assume. Many are well-known titles like Taps and American Hot Wax, others more obscure. I have a list somewhere I'll try to find. |

There are a few PAL only music CEDs available that there is no US equivalent CED for. In addition some of them even have no equivalent laserdisc version such as: Glen Campbell Live PAL CED Modern Romance: Live in Tokyo PAL CED |

No extra scenes but the entire front-end was re-edited ("by some a*****e in the lab" - Maurice Binder) for television broadcast due to the apparently-unacceptable duration between gunbarrel and main titles. The later CBS-Fox CED edition contains the original theatrical cut. |

I have two CED's that was not released on LD to recommend. Hobbit and Return of the king. Hobbit supposedly has material that was not included on other releases however I cannot confirm that. Also The Lord Of The rings has a much nicer Cover than the LD which was Only released in Japan. |

No - Discovision had the first stereo releases - but CED had the first (edit: US market) letterbox release, IIRC. (edit2: Even the first Magnavision had stereo output, although it was far more likely to give you 0 channels of audio than 2.) (edit 1/16/15: OTOH, quite a few Discovisions were accidently(?) anamorphic/squeeze!) |

Woody Allen film Manhattan is the first widescreen film released on CED. LD version was released shortly after and is the first ws ld. Federico Fellini's Casanova predates both of them and I believe is discovision but only the opening credits are in ws the film is p&s. |

I have an odd outbuilding that is about 300 square feet that is split into two levels - I think the lower half was likely originally a tool shed and when the patio slab was poured they added the upper half on the end of the patio slab. Anyway there is a rafter like structure where the two halves meet and there is narrow ledge about 3/4" wide. I have put a bunch of CEDs (about 14 or so) with covers I like (such as Reefer Madness, The World at War (with the sub), the animated Lone Ranger ) on that ledge just for display purposes - I have never had a CED player. I would like to find a copy of the Holocaust on CED cheap - it had a pamphlet with it that the Japan LD set did not (as far as I know). |

I wasn't aware LD beat them to it. yes, Fellini's Casanova (1976) [15-004] has the first widescreen opening, but that's only for a few minutes. but this is the oldest LD i own and I've ever seen in widescreen Pied Piper, The (1972) [FY026-26VC] there could be other Japanese discs, possibly Japanese films  doing a quick search there are other 1982 discs, a few from Japan and PAL discs that are letterboxed. ________________________________ the rein-o official signature:
