Post subject:  Whats it worth

So my lonely CED player is going to be sold. Just have't taken to the format to be honest.

I have my hitachi VIP201P in full working order with a stylus refurbished by CEDatum which they rated at B+, no remote. It comes with 2001, time bandits and dark crystal. 2001 is playable with a few skips and pops, time bandits I stupidly washed to remove serious debris on the disc surface so its dead without the rish of damaging the stylus and dark crystal is worn out done as the needle skips all over the disc.

Maybe it was just the poor quality of the films I got, or may it was the 2 months it took to get the stylus refurbed but either way I've been put off it and it needs to go.

What would it be worth? Given that the machine is working ok and the stylus has been refurbed would I be safe to ask £50?

That seems to be fair, though I don't know what the market is like in the UK. Most CED players I run across either online or locally are in the $60-$100 usd range. Sorry to hear the CEDs didn't work out for you, though enough negative experiences can ruin something for anyone.

Any tips on cedmagic? Also any chance of getting a better disk to try out?

I don't know how the CED (or LD) market is in the UK, but if there are collectors out there they'll probably appreciate a player with a fixed stylus!

I sold the lowest end player to Germany on ebay about 3 years ago for 85, but shipping was about another 80 bucks.
so I would say around 150-175 total with shipping, figure out the price.
good luck.

The usual asking price on ebay UK seems to be around £80-£100 plus delivery, with delivery horribly overpriced *. Whether anyone actually gets that sort of money is another question altogether, and one I can't answer. Saying it's been serviced really may help, especially if you can include a scan of the invoice for that so that people know it really happened.

* Hint to vendors - your customers often know how much UPS etc. charge for delivery, and asking three times as much for inferior service doesn't impress them. A while ago I shipped a laserdisc player to Germany for half what one guy was asking for delivery in the UK...
