My name is John, brand new to the LD world (I did see one in elementary school.)

At any rate, I just purchased a Pioneer CLD-V880 at the Thrift for $14.00, and I had a few disc already. I'm getting an error when trying to play any of the three films I own, the player says "no disc." It came with a Karaoke disc inside, and that plays fine. Is there a compatibility issue with older discs in this unit?

Thank you in advance.

Edit: Looks like Laser Rot. All three discs are BLACK.

Those are not laserdiscs. They are CEDs. That is a completely different technology.

Good day John_Roger,

A warm welcome to yourself and hope you are able to enjoy the Laserdisc Fruits, and enjoy what we also find fascinating about this format.

A pleasure to read from you and hope you continue to add your personal touch, as this counts.

Take good care and read from you again at your convenience,

Sincerest Regards

Welcome to LDDb!

So in the end these are indeed CEDs and not LDs.
I don't think taking the discs our of the CED cartridge did them any good, you might consider them for cover art display only, unless you ever buy a CED Player.

They are:

Death Wish (1974) [00611]
Thing, The (1982) [11015]
First Blood (1982) [RCA 12143]

So, for now, it's Karaoke only since your LD Player is a Karaoke model as well :D

It looks like a capable player (AC3RF, dual side, etc.) and you might want to try a few LDs for fun!

I'm late to this thread but welcome to the forum! I hope you have a great time.

I rarely ever see any CEDs, I've always been curious about the format but never taken the plunge. Are you going to try and get a CED player too?
