Hello all! I'm new to the site and trying to gain some understanding of submissions. I looked for information related to my query in the general section and went through some forum pages but 70 pages is a lot, lol. Right now, my main question is related to barcodes. Right now, I'm finding slight differences in the barcode numeric on my copies as compared to submissions already listed here. Cat #'s are the same but barcodes are different. Does this make a difference here as it can on other collection sites like Discogs? Will I need to make a completely new submission? Are there other areas I should look out for that would indicate a new submission would need to be made? |

Hello! Could you provide examples? Some releases had initially no barcode, they were added later. Some were missing the leading or check digits, sometimes we add them manually and leave a note. Sometimes the barcode reported here was really the local UPC of the store selling them (as a sticker covering the real barcode) and needs to be updated. Etc. Julien |

Hi Julien I'll use one as the primary example. This entry: Commando (1985) [1484-80] My copy looks identical for most of what is listed. Except that my barcode reads 0 24543-1484-9. So, my copy doesn't have the 4 at the end. Quite a few of my copies are like this, or with completely different catalog numbers. |

Oh it's a CED question, not LaserDisc. I have to confess I've never touched, used or watched a CED in my life. I obtained the UPCs from CEDmagic.com and they might have been modified to be compatible with standard USA standard (and displayed correctly via the image generator I'm using). For CED, since there more for some releases, I'm using the "Mint Mark" field instead of the Barcode like for other formats. That's why UPC/barcode search will not work for CEDs. Julien |
