It is of reasonably good quality as well. Matches closer to laserdisc than to ced picturewise. And no skipping. Sound also good. Am excited about the 3D part of it. Though nowhere there is an opportunity to purchase old shutterglasses for crt tv anymore except 2nd hand, nos, or not even then. |

You can still get trouble with VHD. I've had discs where the audio sounded like a dirty/worn LP record and the picture would distort and skip (usually skip back and repeat over and over). The picture quality I'd say is on par with VHS. The most troublesome discs in my experience are 3D titles, actually. Guess they've been watched so many times that they're just worn out or something. The 3D goggles shouldn't be hard to find. They're usually sold dirt cheap and as junk in Japan. I had no trouble finding a pair. However, you will need a standard CRT TV for it to display correctly. Won't work on modern TVs nor fancy CRTs like 100 Hz models and such. |

I watched my first 3D title on my projector today and it worked. The picture as seen through the goggles looked very dark however – MUCH darker than the 2-D version. Is that also the case on a standard CRT TV? |

Yep, you need to be in a very dark room to get as much light as possible from the screen. I own goggles from Victor and National, both have very dark filters that you see through. |

You need to calibrate your display for 2D and 3D separately. This applies to modern 3D on modern displays. You need to compensate for brightness and color loss due to the filters on the goggles. On your TV controls, you could compensate for brightness only perhaps. Video processors like Lumagen Radiance has 3D color calibration when mated with an appropriate calibration software like Calman or Lightspace. |
