kinda beat up but oh well. the spines are different some have a color box on the corner which is even different for the exact same title California Girls. Anyone know why the spines are this way?

Well VHD has LD beat on attractive/legible spines.

I always thought the color-coding helped separate genres. Perhaps color coding changed over the years (like the VHD & Video Disc nomenclatures). Do both copies of California Girls have the same catalog number?

Victor used some seriously nice dyes for the covers too. Some of the most sharp & vivid examples of cover art I've ever seen are on VHDs.

according to the numbers they're exactly the same other than the color difference
