Just looking for a quick confirmation from people who know a lot more about D-Theater than I do!

I know that D-Theater must include at least one DD 5.1 track and optional tracks, usually Stereo or DTS 5.1.

The Video is MPEG2.
If you record D-VHS, you record MPEG Audio so...
The Stereo output is described as PCM audio.

So... is the stereo soundtrack compressed in MPEG Audio or is it (uncompressed) PCM?

I highly doubt it would be uncompressed PCM, but I do not truly know. Since its core format is the MPEG-2 transport stream, the audio is probably inherently limited to the formats allowed in such streams.
